Last years rebate deals

Does anyone remember when the Polaris rebates came out last year?
And if so how deep did they go?
I heard in Feb last year they were giving 2500 per sled?

Polaris just came out with a 500 rebate for the 18's.

I think it was mid February, sleds that were going for $12,200 at Christmas became $10,200.

This was correct...

You know for the life of me I have never figured out why the manufactures penalize guys for snowchecking?? You would think guys that commit early would get the good deals but instead they put up their deposits pay sticker for sled and in 60 days get bitch slapped by manufacture for 2k discount to their buddies. You would think it would be opposite...

This one reason I quit snowchecking sleds. You are by far better off just waiting.

2011 was the last time I bought a current year sled at the beginning of the season. The only reason I did is I wanted the new Pro and my buddie was a dealer and cut me a killer deal. Will never buy current new at full price, why would you? It's no secret that sleds are thousands off in just a few months, and even cheaper as holdovers. So if you have to have the latest and greatest first you're gonna pay for it. If they didn't cut the price dealers and manufacturers would go under. There are plenty of people like me who would NEVER pay retail, so all those shiney new sleds would just sit and rot. Shrinking customer base, too much competition combined with a sport that is totally dependent on the weather is only good for the buyer. Think it is called overpricing and overproducing for your market ;) If they only produced what they could sell at retail the current business model would fold...

One reason would be to get a snowcheck sled....which can be a substantial upgrade depending on the deal/manufacturer/year. Say on a new Polaris - getting the snowcheck sled could get you 3" track, painted tunnel/rails/a-arms, upgraded shocks and a 4-year warranty. So even if the price is more, you would have a tough time duplicating all of that for $2K. And the rebates never apply to the snowcheck models anyway.

Now if you don't care about any of that, the in-season sled will perform roughly the same and you save $2K.

That all said .....the easiest answer to your question of "why" is pretty simple...."they" simply build too many sleds for the market and have totally nuked any logic out of the pricing structure. Once the sleds are "sold" from the manufacturer to the dealer, it becomes the dealer's problem...
