I received this from PowderPatrol:
The WFRA has approved a LAST CHANCE ride to showcase our affected areas.

I would like to know the best dates to schedule.

Jan 22-23-24 Fri-Sun

Jan 29-31 is the Xgames making lodging a pain and more expensive, overcrowding in town, and less publicity for our cause.

Feb 26-28 Fri-Sun

Lodging to be in Carbondale at the Days Inn, maybe special rate but definitely plenty of parking, resturants w/in walking distance. Maybe shirts or hats and a raffle to benefit a charity in Carbondale and the WFRA's efforts. The founders are onboard.

Riding schedule/areas to be announced. 1/2 day on Fri, Saturday boondocking groups or trail riders to meet at Electric Mountain Lodge for lunch, etc. 3rd day, to be determined by Farmer.

*Poll closes in 31 days, please vote ASAP to help Farmer have more time to plan. Thanks!

I'm game for any weekend.

If X games weekend even stayin in eagle could be an option! 25-30 min out.. I could talk to the hotels around here to see about special rates!

If shirts and hats are wanted I got a connect for that stuff too(my sis works at JB Ts in eagle)

Crap, Can I move my vote from the x games weekend to the one before.
If there is someone that wants to go but doesnt have money to stay you can stay at my place 10 min from Carbondale. The floor is carpeted.

I tried, it won't let me. We'll just remember you when all is said and done. You can be the "Swing Vote" if need be.

A little info about the areas

I want to thank you guys for working on this "Last Chance Ride". When we figure out what days you want to do it I will call and get a special rate for rooms in Carbondale. There is plenty of places to park at all the hotels in town. The only weekend I know that won't work well is X-Games weekend. Every hotel room from Aspen to Silt gets packed. There are plenty of places to eat dinner and there plenty of places in town that support and appreciate snowmobiles‘. The only thing we don't have is ski-doo dealer right in town. The closest is in Rifle. If anyone has any break downs and needs a place to work on their sleds I can provide a heated shop with lifts and tools.

From Carbondale or Glenwood, they are only 10 miles apart, we can hit 3 trail heads for 2 different areas. The first area is the 4 mile area (SP Trail). This area has great boondocking and tree riding. Not very much true chute hill climbing but endless boondocking. If your feeling ambitious from here you can also either boondock 40 miles cross country to Electric Mnt Lodge and eat lunch or you can boondock 60 miles all the way to Grand Mesa and eat lunch at the lodges there. From either after you eat, you can buy gas if you choose then boondock back home OR just jump on the SP groomed trail and just ride home. The majority of the 4-mile to Electric Mnt area is 9000ft to 10,500.

The other area is the Flattops. The Glenwood trail head for the Flattops is Transfer Trail. Transfer trail is right in Glenwood Springs. At the the trail head you start at a little under 6000 feet and then you go up the trail for 5 miles or so and you break out on top of the Flattops at 10,000 feet +.

There are also 5 or 6 other trail heads and areas all within an hour of Carbondale. (Crested Butte & Kebler Pass), (Aspen Mnt & Taylor Pass), (New Castle & Buford road Flattops), (Kline Top & Flattops), (Dotsero & Flattops), (Basalt & Hagerman Pass), (Basalt and Eagle & Lime Park)

After listing all those off I can see why we hardley ever go anywhere else to ride. lol

If anyone has any questions please let me know.

As far as date goes I really don't have a prefrence. We always have good snow by these dates. It's just typical snowmobiling, it depends on the weather.

Too bad, the Xgames are overrated, IMO. I tend to go ride as usual and DVR the sled stuff.
