Lasik eye surgery and motion sickness

A few years ago my father got lasik and now when he goes sking he gets severe motion sickness to the point now that he doesn't even ski anymore.
I took him riding today and the same thing happens to him riding. He was ok down the trail but once I droped him off in the trees where he had to move around his sled I had him yaken his breakfast in the first quarter mile.
Anyone else have this problem? And if so what was the cure? He's talked to a few doctors in Steamboat but they realy havn't come up with any good ideas.

That sucks! Guess you can chalk that up as one of the cons to lasik.:face-icon-small-dis The only thing I can think of would be to take Gravol or some sort of motion sickness meds and see if that helps.

I would get a consult from Dr. Cuturelli in Denver. He did most of my family and does the Lasik for the Broncos. He was a good guy to deal with and is also a eye surgeon and got his degree from John's Hopkins university.

From my experiences, most motion sickness is based on your ears since that is where your balance is. I just had brain tumor removed and and am healing now. If it's from the eyes, then its from too much fast moving motion stimuli to the eyes. Ask him if he is just dizzy or if the world is spinning? That willl help when you see a doc. I have some of just being dizzy and its getting better. My symptoms to get an mri that found my tumor was I would get dizzy and puke sitting at my desk. Sometimes if you have a cold, the fluid in your earsd gets thicker and doesn't allow the fibers in your ear to move as planned resulting in dizizness. If that is thre case, ask your doc for antivert, it thins the fluid and allows the fibers to work. When the cold is over, stop the medication. Hopefully the info helps.

Keep in mind I'm just hittin the basics. Tests will answer most questions. Check with your doc.

I'd look into Vertigo, inner ear and balance.
My dad got it and he cant look up now, gets dizzy. Cant climb a ladder all sorts of things.

My dad also gets real bad vertigo, but only in flat light conditions. He doesn't ride sleds anymore but is a pretty gnarly skier for his age and on days when its flat light he says he can't hardly even stand up and gets super dizzy and disoriented. Has this been a constant problem for him since the surgery? also how was the lighting on that day?

I've never had lasik, but I discovered about 7 years ago that I get motion sickness while riding snowmobiles. I didn't realize what was going on at first, I kept feeling crappy when I went riding.
My mom suggested Dramamine. I was very skeptical at first because I didn't think it could be motion sickness. But as always mom was right. I have no clue how she came up with that, but I pop a Dramamine 1/2hour to an hour before I go out riding and I have no problems. I know it works because there have been days that I forget and a end up feeling like crap all day long.

Lasik here, and nothing but good things to say about it.

I wouldn't rule out anxiety. A lot of people have it, but don't realize or won't admit it.

Same here. Used to get pukey sick when I rode. Dramamine made it go away completely. Only stayed like that for a couple years and now I don't need it anymore. Well worth a try
