Have a couple of friends going down in a motorhome and parking in the infield.
They go every year.

If you are driving yourself to the track on race day expect it to take between 3-5 hours to get out of the parking lot and back to your hotel. You won't even move in the parking lot for atleast 2 hours so don't even bother starting the motor. Tons of people just hang out in the parking lot and sit around and shoot the shat. I've been a few times and last year was the worst racing by far. They made the cup cars use a hard tire and the racing really sucked. All the drivers said it was like driving on ice at 185mph.
Many buses going to the track from all over Vegas. Catch a bus if you can. The Air Force Base allow's buses to travel thru the base. Or at least they used to. A whole hell of a lot quicker than a car. Or, if you win the lotto, you can take a helicopter!!!
This will be the first year in 5 years that I won't be there. I think Summitone is correct: the buses are allowed to drive through the base. I think the cabs might be able to do the same as well. Enjoy...it's definitely a good time.

just got back from mccall on saturday leavin for the race on friday
will be my second time down there cant hardly wait !!!!!!!! only been here a few hours and already tired of lookin at my boss

Me and my Father-in-law will be there. We have three camper spots and 12 people. It is a blast. We will be there Wednesday until Monday or Tuesday (Incase of rain)
As mentioned before plan on hanging out at the track for a wile. Like 2-3 hrs after the race. The last couple years they have had minis racin in the front stretch and pit road a couple hrs after the Cup race. They are pretty cool. I think they were free to those with Cup tickets but I am not sure. We have watched them and never been questioned.

I am headed down there this Friday....should be a good time. I have been to the Phoenix race it and took about 4 hours to get back to the hotel. Can't wait!!
Headin down with 6 and meeting about 30 down there. What a hoot, and heck it is Vegas. Got 2 buses rented with a full bar. Only took an hour to get back to hotel, through the base. Take enough clothes in case of cool weather, 2 years ago was cold before that was hot.

Wow, wifes grandparents had a vineyard just 10 miles north of there, in Penn Yan. Beautiful country! Great place to live...if it wasnt for being associated with NYC. :/

daughter lives in Himrod, about 5 miles from Dundee
You know sometimes what I think and what I type differ...go figure. They lived in Dundee, not Penn Yan.

me and VE use to race dirt track in Dundee--when the watkins race was on some cup guys use to come up to the race and would put on a little demo race--the last year we raced there , Ken Schrader and Ernie Irvin came up and i got there picture and autographs----Schrader came up in Dale Earnhardts Van---we were real pumped for a minute--lol
