probably had a slab of 3-5' deep but the crown face was reported 10-20' deep. The accident is still being investigated but it sounds like 3 snowboarders used sleds to access this terrain. I would assume this is a heavily windloaded slope which allowed for the extra depth just off the ridge.
Sorry to hear about the someones untimely passing but thankful the other two were able to get out of the path.
