Large Crown w/ fatality near Vail 4/18/2013

probably had a slab of 3-5' deep but the crown face was reported 10-20' deep. The accident is still being investigated but it sounds like 3 snowboarders used sleds to access this terrain. I would assume this is a heavily windloaded slope which allowed for the extra depth just off the ridge.

Sorry to hear about the someones untimely passing but thankful the other two were able to get out of the path.

Wow, that one was building all year, went right down to the rocks. That big it's lucky it didn't get all 3.

What a bummer. This person and news of 5 more today. I was hoping for a death free season and right at the end that goes away. Keep your wits and snowpack knowledge with you everyone, we are too close to the season's end for this. My thoughts are with these snowboarders. 550iq
