I have a 06 chev 2500hd duramax 4 door short box and tow a triton 2 place enclosed, when i get in softer conditions and need to put the power down i'm fighting a wheel hop, let up and you lose your momentum, don't let up and break something. has anybody put ladder bars on their truck and solved this problem or found a way to keep the hammer down and not wheel hop? thanks in advance

Expensive, but about the best option if you want the absolute best and dont want to build or modify or drill your frame rails.

If youre comfortable building some, a simple trac bar will also suffice, no need to get fancy unless youre racing and worried about weight transfer and such. I forget the length that was determined to be best for these trucks, but i can dig it out if youre interested.

Yea going to build a set of traction bars for my rig this winter. Get a lot of wheel hop, especially with 425hp and 35's. I think 60" or 66" but I'm not sure. Should help a lot though.

Ton of info on Duramax Forum about aftermarket and home-made setups. You will get very specific info from guys that have built their own setups. Looking to do the same thing with mine.

Make sure they have joints on either end and a slip joint somewhere that allows the length to change. As your suspension comes up the ladder bars need to get shorter, and if they don't the suspension and bars will be in a constant fight. Look on pirate4x4.com also. Tons of info in there

Just to clarify, this would be for a bar solid mounted on the axle end. Not one like most people use, having pivots on both ends. Either of which would work fine, i personally have not had any binding issues with the later of the two.

Having the bar mounted solid to the axle housing is more effective, but more dificult to build as you will have to male up for the differing arks with a shackle or slip joint.

My suggestion is still caltracs.

I have went and talked to a couple local 4x4 shops about this and they say the long bars wont work in my application , not enough angle between the bottom of the leaf springs and the frame. they are also recommending the cal-trac setup for my truck and they say that they have not had a problem with noise from them. anybody out there with them on their truck or have experience with these that can give me some hands on before i spend the 400$

Unless your truck is lowered, there is no reason that a straight push bar setup wont work. There are countless pulling trucks running them, pulling much much more than your enclosed weighs...

Search traction bars.

Lots of info there.

I put on the cognito traction bars and it got rid of my wheel hop. They were easy to install did it all myself with no buddies helping. You do need to drill the mount on the frame or weld, and weld some tabs on the axle.

is your truck lifted or stock ride height?

Stock height I do have air bags so probably an inch higher. Call shocker motorsports and talk to him. I don't think it matters if you have a lift.
