L E D taillight on an 2009 ?

I was trying to install an LED tail/brake light on a 2009 rmk 700. It is a strip style light designed for a trailer. It was three wires just like a normal tail light, but it will not work right. What am I missing here?

I'm guessing here, but try reversing the polarity.

In order to use an L.E.D. light on a 2005-2010 C.F.I. POLARIS you need the following:

POLARIS L.E.D. ADAPTOR part # 174-500 ($18.95) from Hi-Performance Engineering (www.hiperf.com) 1-800-451-5268

There's no other way around it that I'm aware of.
