Kustom footpeg bracket

Hi All.

Second TIME I click the X after clicking my photo and loose the thread and Have to RETYPE THAT WHOLE POST DAMN F'HAWK. No "cucumber proof protection" like in Hotmail... Administrators, add that !

SOOOO : here's a footpeg bracket I made for Rudeawkening.

First idea was to make it out of stainless steel since he's 300# but ended up doing it out of 1045 quenched & tempered steel because that was the only thing I could find in half a day turn time... ! (before I leave to Quebec)

Just to let you know that I have the template done, it's now a piece of cake to make a kustom one for you out of Alu, Stainless or steel.

This is a 5 mounting hole unit and geometry goes as follow :
(reference point is stock peg mount) :
1.5 down, 0 back
1.5 down, 1.5 back
1.5 down, 3 back
0.75 down, 4.5 back
0 down, 6 back

Here's how it looks bolted on my machine. Bolted it on just to make sure everything's fine.
Sure these babies need a little "triple-chrome plating" or powder coat !

Foot peg option?

What were you trying to do by moving the foot peg?

Lower or further forward??

Did the old one brake or are you trying to make the cockpit area more open?

Do tell what you made is very interesting; at least to those of us that are taller than 6'.

Make the cockpit area more open for guys over 6'

Guys over 6' feel clumsy with the stock footpeg mounting hole.

Moving them down will increase peg to seat height and allow for a more natural position. I'm very close to 6' and I feel like i'm on the limit. (Rudeawakening is 6'4")

The further back positions will allow for a more agressive forward position when climbing or even allow us to pull wheelies.

I plan on having a mountain prototype pair done for myself that are gonna be really far back (like in the middle of the number plate) so that the position would be similar to a sledder going ûp a hill with their feet way back in their footrests. That would allow us to put more weight at the front of the machine when climbing a steep hill, less trenching, higher highmarks.

Drop pegs do wonders.

add about 4 inches of seat foam to make it flush with the fuel cap and get away from that old Honda XR style now you have a whole new animal.

hey tlkd

when you get done with the mountain version can you make me a set too? i think they would work great along with the stock pegs so i can ride double and not share my pegs with her.....if you can make them flip up too that would be great so they are out of the way when shes not on the back.lol.

do you have any trouble with your feet getting pulled off the pegs or feet hitting the ground while bottoming out or riding deep snow with the pegs being lowered?

you know who the sticker guy is when his whole machine is coverd in fancy graphics, right down to the suspension parts!!!!awesome!!!

Double-ing

That reminds me of something !

At '07 Hawkfest, a 15yr kid participated with a 503 equipped with two sets of footpegs and another, older 600HO guy asked him why he had these cauz there was no "real" montains around. He answered : "Oh ! I bring my grifriend with me sometimes !" Then one of the older guy said : "Damn, how old is your girlfriend ?" - "She's 15, why would it change anything if sh'd be older ?" he replied back ! Then all of the guys started laughing and they all agreed they couldn't do it with their wives... for many different reasons that I'll let you imagine ! I was just laughing so loud, almost crying... !

BuffaloHawk, if you need one I have no problem designing one for you. I think the best way will be to design the bracket and actually buy the retractable "DRZ400 style" passenger footpeg.

Ad Boivin's stock footpeg, last year, was selling for 125$.

Tony can you answer that ? I only rode yours for 3 minutes so I can't say.

too funny. i still love my wife...id never put her on the back of my hawk. i have a hard enough time keeping it upright and out of the trees with just me on it!!!

this could be a good thing for a hawkfest challenge....2 up mt climbing or big air contest for 2!!!!

Original problem was us tall folks toes pointing down.

The 2" drop lets your feet stay flat. so you actually gain clearance.
Credit goes to Read Young in Nampa Id.. does not frequent here lately.

As we have used ours more fellow riders seem to want them.

I can tell you guys havent been to the mountains much.

hahahahaha !

I don't pretend to own the absolute truth here ! According to my experience in the mountains of BC, I beleive putting a really further back set of pegs will help us having a better riding position going up a steep hill. I'll do some testing and let you know. If it doesn't work, I won't BS you all for sure ! I think the goal here is to fine tune & further develop the machine, making it a better sport. Also, it is about correcting the flaws that ADB hasn't corrected or is not even aware of !

By the way Sledr2, how does that 2 moto kit works on you Banshee ? Is it for real or you photoshopped it ?

Further back will help you wheelie for sure.
The problem we have is trying to keep these things from wheeling over.
Forward mounted handlebars and pegs are a must. Just my .02

Banshee hasn't been on the snow yet, but has been riden.
It's like a sled, has training wheels. LOL

Here's a pic from yesterday.

Foot peg brackets are a great idea, especially for two-up. While hill climbing, having double pegs might be an advantage. Weight transfer and attack angle change works on a sled when hitting a long face, and with sledr2s forward handlebars, why not a Hawk? I remember the tunnel grippers mounted at the end of the seat on the RMK to stand back on and float the skis up. I'll make mine take the bolt-on CR450 pegmounts and get away from the Boivin peg.

OT:
That KawaHawki is sick. I can't find other words for it at this time...
How much does it weigh? My buddy Mountain uses a motocross seat like that on his superlight custom hillclimb 600IQRT sleds. Very nice work I must say. What motor turns that track?

nice rails!

where did you get those rails on that kawahawki? and are you running a stock suspension other than the rails?
