Any reviews on the Air fork that came on the 16 KTM Factory edition VS the standard KTM forks? (Snow bike application)

It might be that the air forks will be standard on the SX-F for 2017. Deciding to grab a 2016 SX-F450 while they are available or wait for the 2017 models. Not sure if we will see any other major changes other than the a few minor tweaks. Thank you!:face-icon-small-coo

I like mine. It's easy to adjust and I didn't see much change at all in the snow pressure wise. I did stop and play with pressure a bit. 145 lbs on the dirt and 200 in the snow! I'd wait ;)

Thank you for the info! Rented one this winter and cant wait get one! Got a kit snow checked, just deciding on a bike:face-icon-small-coo

I'm having issues with the forks sucking up into themselves. Not sure if they are blown already or not? Went for one relatively easy ride. Pumped up to 225 and it helped but still too soft....

Wonder if a spring will fit on the non air side. Might help a bunch, I was pretty happy with 200psi last year. I do plan on playing with the shock bar length (dono what it's called) to lower ski pressure

Mine working great so far and ran all summer on the 300xc and now the 450 SX @ 200 psi and compression cranked all the way up. I have two other spring fork bikes to pull down and re spring, that is costly taking front end off and tearing down the forks, and an expense savings on the AER. I have heard of a few failures and lets hope it a fluke.

AER Fork failure not a "fluke"

Beware - AER forks are prone to failure in cold temps. Had 2 sets fail today in temps near 0 F. Somehow the pressure transfers from the top to the bottom of the fork & locks it in the down position.

As mentioned by somebody else in a deferent AER thread, Factory Connection makes a spring kit to replace the air side for $500 something, but they want you to send them the fork.

Also KTM now has a spring kit, that you can buy and do yourself for $750.

My fork failed this week on my 2017 KTM 450 XC-F. First ride out it blew the seal due to the cold weather. KTM is aware of the problem and are sending my dealer a thicker seal to hopefully cure this problem. I will hopefully be up and running in just a couple days.

spoke too soon . Mine failed yesterday after a big drop.

AER forks have been fail after fail after fail.... seems to be the problem is they get stuck in the stroke. They are not allowing the air to move between chambers for a couple reasons:

1. The grease they used get extremely thick in cold climates and won't allow the air to swap chambers
2. Some AER forks had the main seal installed backwards at the factory. Just something I heard from a KTM rep 2 weeks ago

So until this issue is fully resolved (some had the forks fixed and they went down again the next weekend) I'm holding off on 17 bikes. Or I'll just replace them with springer forks. Sucks because the 17 bikes have really sweet angry motors.

I had an idea to try , The air we pump into them has moisture and under pressure it condenses. they could be icing internally so I filled mine with Argon gas and they work perfectly yesterday, not saying that's the answer however so far,, Yes the Motor rips

So what's everybody gonna do about them popping?

Keep fighting it, go springs, deferent forks?

WP said today that there is no problem .and that we are simply airing up without taking weight off the fork first, My 1000lb hoist surely takes the weight off hmm,

I have issue with AER 48 fork on my Husky FC 450 2017 to.
I made pressure 210 psi, temperature was -20C. After 30 minutes fork sucked itself and stuck.

I decide to buy spring conversion kit from ktechsuspension.
Ktech supply stifferest spring 10,4N (1,06kg) Where i can buy stiffer spring?

Now i can`t to unstuck fork. When i put pressure in fork it come out a bit, when i release pressure fork sucked itself again.

I want to ride this weekend, how can i fix this issue?
What fork settings recomendation to avoid this issue?

With the ORSS you will need to get your Valve fork revalved. It's not that the Spring is not stiff enough, it's the valving in the other fork.
