KTM RFS....who is running one?

I will be running a KTM RFS 525 with a 100mm piston in it this winter with the MountainHorse kit. Who is running one and what suggestions do you have? Thanks in advance.

Eli

I ran a 525 for a season. I fought several issues through out that season and wasn't overly impressed with it's abilities, if I knew now what I know now I think I could have made it work a lot better than it did. My spark plug cap didn't like water so it would ark and ground it's self out on the cylinder, that took sometime to figure out and I ended up replacing the stock cap for a watercraft cap. The airbox and snow issue that everybody has regardless of bike plagued me all season, I would delete that airbox if I were you and run a pod filter. I also experienced some carb icing so I would build something to keep the snow off of your carb. Those are the only issues I can think of.

Did you run an Outerware filter skin? Oiled foam filter? Was yours a Mountainhorse?

Yes I ran the Outerware filter over an oiled foam filter. Trust me just delete your airbox I have been down that road and ruined many days messing with an airbox full of snow. And yes I now have two seasons on the MH.

I'm running an 06 rfs 450XC and a friend has a 06 520EXC, both of us had a few teething problems with the airbox but solved them quick.

We used a lot of Frog Skins on the airbox and left side cover, ran the Timbersled prefilter and sealed the airboxes once we routed the 4 lines of the carb into the airbox. Lastly we used a layer of dehumidifier foam over everything in the airbox and they worked great.
