Well thats a tuff question ???

Sure, really appreciated !! but seriously ,, he tried to buy one over hear but nobody would deal on a new 350. Being he's a "car guy" and always looking for a deal, Struthers made him a pretty good deal. we've bought lots of stuff from Jack over the years, In the car business to us it's just iron, we pay the same as dave smith for all our vehicles, we do dave smith deals here every day. I'd rather have some one buy it from me down here and make nothing and tell his friends rather than drive 300 mile and get a new chevy. I would never hold anyone up and make them pay "full retail" for any new chevy, not even a ZL1 . funny, we just sold Hinshaws Honda a new hi-cube for cost and gave them all the rebates ect, think they'd go down 10 cents on a new Ktm ? not a chance,

Dan it surprises me that you would help a guy buy out of state. You know what the margins are, how good of a "deal" could he have got? 5% , 7%? Seems like your business karma is going to take a hit on this one.

what happened to buying local and supporting our local dealers like I-90 or Webbs and not going out of state???? with all the dealers going under like RMC, Kent Kawi and now Waldron's it seems if we dont support them all our parts will be mail order as well....Dave Smith here I come......:brokenheart:

If Jet Chev is giving people smoking deals but no one locally is willing to reciprocate that favor why would you blame him for going to someone that will give him a deal? Don't get me wrong, i understand the importance of supporting local business. But if its true that they won't budge a dime from retail then i don't see the big problem. who really wants to pay full retail on anything??? I think dealers that insist on sticking to their guns and selling at full retail are shooting themselves in the foot. discount it slightly and make the customer feel like he got a deal and then move more volume to make up for the discount.

I don't think anyone believes Jet or his buddy could not get a break on a new KTM locally. How much did he save....who knows he doesn't even know how much it is going to cost to get it home. I have purchased several new Chevrolet vehicles from my local dealer. I always knew what a fair deal was and always got one. I knew they were making some money and I wanted them to. If they did not how were they or their staff going to buy anything from me.

I don't want to pound on Dan, but... Once in a while retailers get some hard to get product that they can actually make a margin on. I would bet on bikes it's something massive(lol) like 15-20%. They only get 2-3 for the year and don't want to just give them away. They should go to good, repeat customers who support the place on the common stuff too. Not the guy who scours the internet for the one dealer who sells everything for just slightly over cost.

Hinshaws will not budge on prices with KTM. I had a friend go in there a few weeks ago looking at the same bike and they are set on price. Another person i know drove all the way around to Port Angeles and was able to get a good deal. hard to support the local guy when they always try and screw you. I realize its a business and they need to make their cut, but that is not at full msrp.

You guys need to shop at EYE NINETY MOTORSPORTS!!!! Get it I90 Motorsports? Talk to Remko, he will take care of you and all your KTM needs.

Dang,

Ya trust me I'm all for buying locally 100% but the bike he bought was a legitimate $ 1000 les in Boise, thats serious money. I have the invoice on my desk. I do know he tried I-90 and some other dealers around here. I understand about hard to come by vehicles / bikes. I know the ktm 350's are in short supply and the dealers need to make a profit on them. I can say I have not had one single customer pay retail for any new chevy in the last 3 or 4 years. , If I tried that I would have been out of business long ago. Do you think any of us dealers would be around if we stuck to MSRP ? It doesnt happen in the car business and you all know that. He did get it hauled for free by a wholesaler who owed him a favor.

Let's call a spade a spade - bad business decisions and sales practices are what put SOME of these local guys out of business.
