ktm 690

Hi guys I have a ktm 690 Enduro R that I was wondering if it would work well. I use it in the summer for about any type of riding. It just seems like a shame not to question this and a option to try. I know there is enough of HP with this bike. I just don't want to be dropping a large amount of coin to be unsatisfied.

Allen put one together the second year. We all spent some tome on it. Yes, It works well for what it is. It is a big bike and a heavy bike, but get's you on the snow. With an LT you would have a good combo. It takes a different kit and fit kit. You will not be able to swap later, so think it over first. Perhaps your 690 for everything else and a dedicated snow bike would be better. Just a heads up

I have seen two of these setups, one with a 2011 ST and one with a 2013 LT. The LT worked very well but the earlier ST not as much. I think with the extra weight of that bike the LT would be the ticket for sure. He goes everywhere my bike went and climbs really well with longer track and extra HP. Picking it up in deep pow after a fall is a bitch.

Some issues though are that the 690 is built more like a street bike and less like a Dirtbike. Meaning, it's not as rugged. The one I know of had FI and battery issues and has also had airbox issues. The fella is on here, his name is Hardstart. PM him with any questions you have.

I rode a 690 duke quite a bit this summer. It was a really fun bike and you can get 70-75hp out of it with some mods. The weight on the snow I think would not be great. I ride with a guy who has a kit on a honda XR 650, probably similar, I would much prefer a smaller lighter bike. Will it work, yes. Are there better bikes, yes.

someone mentioned that the 690 isn't that hard to pick up? I suspect they're referring to when they stood on solid ground and it had wheels on it instead of a flat, heavy track packed full of snow. …you see where I'm going with this...

It's not that bad. Just lift with your back, it's the biggest and strongest muscle, it should be used. You'll all eat your words when I land a backflip this year !
