Ktm 530 questions

hi all
new to snowbiking and just purchased a used 2014 timbersled for my 2008 ktm 530.

will be doing a few mods probably going to get some sort of intake kit and wider footpegs
i am wondering Do i need a thermostat/carb heater? i have heard you can run without but looking for more first hand info.
thanks

heater

it is possible to ride without the carb heater (depending on model you prolly have a tstat stock). you will eventually run into issues with icing, how often will greatly depend on riding conditions. if you do have icing problems it will leave you stranded unless you can figure out how to get it warmed back up. i would highly suggest the avid heater with either his stat or thermobob's setup. the stock thermostat does not have a bypass to feed the heater so you will need to remove the stock and add the new one.

Or at least get the carb covered and the snow off it ... Depends on where you ride and how cold it will get...

ok everything is starting to make sense now. so now I have another question. since my bike all ready has a thermostat does anyone make a carb heat kit that I can tap into my existing hoses? maybe avid sells just the heat collar and fittings?

Did you check with avid about just the collar?
