Going to get thumper racing to build 570 for my snow bike . Any suggestions ?its a exc model so want to swap trans around to close ratio Mxc ,12-1 comp,port an bore carb out 41mm .any other ideas ?

You probably right but already have the 525 and its hard to find a good 570 berg up here in northern alberta

2003 525sx
I've run my 2003 525sx the last 3 seasons, 2 on a 2moto, and 1 on a homebuilt kit. I've been really happy with it as far as power and reliability. My friend had his 450exc bored to a 540 and we were about equal for power, mine revved higher but his had a lot of torque. I put an exc 5th and 6th gear in with my close ratio sx tranny, you rarely hit those gears on the snow, but I think the mxc 5th and 6th would probably be easier to pull than the exc and top speed would be very close to the same, at least on snow. Great engines for snowbikes, carb icing is the thing you have to figure out. I ran a pod filter with a prefilter sock and wrapped the entire carb in closed cell foam (a cheap camp sleeping mat). I don't have an electrical system on my bike, otherwise I would have a hotgrip element glued to it and hooked to a switch for when it's really cold or it starts icing up. A stone reliable engine that has great parts availability, you'll like it.

I ran my 525 last an it was great but hours are getting up on it so want to make sure it's good to go for winter . Hey on the carb icing just get your self some of the fire blanket that the welder s use ,you can wrap the motor an cover the head pipe keeps enough heat around the carb never had any trouble all last winter

525 Snowbike
Could you post some pictures of how you wrapped your engine to keep the carb from icing. I have a 525sx that I have put a Mountain Horse kit on and the last time I rode it last year I had some icing problems. Just got electric start on it and am anxious to ride it this winter without kicking my leg off.
