Ktm 525 vs Berg 570 on MH kit

I currently have a Ktm 525 with a 2moto kit.
Of course i am very interested in the MH kit, possibly the 137".
I am also considering dumping my whole package for the Berg 570 and MH 137.
Thats a whole lotta dough and wondering how the berg compares to the 525 in the power department. The EFI of the berg would be great, not to mention the fuel dripping out of my carb (when on my side) with a hot exhaust nearby just freaks me the **** out!
I wish one of the big manufacturers would produce a 100hp light weight snowbike that sits a little lower than all these race bikes do. Forced induction 700cc v-twin with a little wider saddle, thumb throttle, rekluse style clutch and grip heaters would be great........ Am I dreaming!!!

I ride a 570 and it goes much better then 530. I have never been on a 525. I love my 570. It is an awsome bike.

thumb throttle

Really??????

Dude, go buy a 4-wheeler or sled and you'll be set.

Why would having a thumb throttle be dumb? I think it would be a good idea. I've noticed that if I'm pinned I can't quickly grab the brake for doing downhill turns since my wrist is twisted all the way.... give me a thumb throttle and I can grab brake and be back on the throttle quicker.

Some of us are sledders at heart, not bike riders. In my opinion I think a bike tricked out for winter only is just around the corner.... these are one of the add-ons that would help make that happen.

I rode my 525 last season with my MH kit and it was a dog compared to the 450's I was riding with. I am riding a 300 this season and it gives a little bit up to the 450 honda's but walked all over the 450 Yamaha I rode with yesterday.

So far the best running timbersled setups I have seen are the 11' 450 honda's. I think my buddies CR500 is going to be a 450 eater as soon as he gets it dialed in but that remains to be seen, need more rides to confirm.

I heard that some where else that the 450's do better than 525/530's.
Why is that?

From what I can tell I think it has to do with the power delivery and rpm. My 525 had a lot of power but it was very linear manageable power that reved out fairly low where as the track bikes have a much more explosive power delivery and rev to the moon. I also see this with my 300 which has the ability to run different power valve springs to adjust what RPM the valves open at and greatly effects the power delivery. For example trail riding in the dirt with the most aggressive spring in my power valve I can barely keep the bike on the trail it's like riding a bull but if I put in a different spring making the power valves open higher in the rpm range it turns the bike into the best trail machine I have ever rode. So in the winter I run the aggressive spring which opens the power valves pretty much as soon as you crack the throttle and the bike is instantly on the pipe and pulling hard all the way through the rpm range.

I could be completely wrong to but that's my theory.

This is true, this bike likes to be short shifted and uses the torque vs. rpm to get moving. I have a 520 ktm and I wanted to make it an all around better bike for the trails and track. I loved the low end for trails but wanted more top for the dunes and track. So I did some motor work. I had 1mm oversized valves put in the head, 12.5:1 piston, 8/06 cam and installed a trailtech -10oz flywheel. With this combo I can still lug it in the woods and it has the topend for the dunes. All of this was about $600 and way cheaper than a new bike.

Whats the difference in the quads cuz my buddies all ride honda 450s with the hcr kit pipe ect and my stock yfz450 would beat them all the time simular riders ect. When the hondas were stock it wasnt even close until they did the hcr kit. Sorry to OP didnt mean to derail just curious as to what the difference is.

So did you try this mod on the M Horse or just dunes?

I haven't tried this with the MH kit. I have just used it on the track, trails and dunes. It is a night and day difference in power delivery than stock. I would think the recluse auto clutch would be a good addition for the MH kit.

These are bikes not to be confused with quads. The two Honda 450's that I ride with do have a fuel management system since they are injected and they both have after market exhaust but I think that is the extend of their mods. I think 450 yamaha is stock but it is fuel injected, I have no idea why it runs so poorly compared to the Honda's and even my 300.
