Ktm 500 ?

Get the Austrailian mapping installed at the dealer, it makes a big difference.

As for the air box, I just gutted the bottom of mine so the snow drops out, it works pretty good.

I also added ALOT of oil to the front forks, I set my oil height to 70mm after clamping the fork clamps on, then using that as my bottom out measurement. I set my fork clamps as far away from the axle as the ski mount would allow. My thought on this was to get more leverage on the axle, and reduce bending of the fork legs. If you don't run more oil, you bottom the clamps into the seals.

Thanks Jon

That's great info,Do you have the st kit? I'm putting one on today ..came off of a 450 xc 2012 but the strut rod is to short.... Need to know the total length centre to centre. This one seems about 1 1/4" to short?? I have a 13" 500exc.
And should I put a 13 gear on? Front brake lever operational?
Thanks Luc

I would get an FMF or similar silencer as the stock KTM silencer with spark arrestor is really restrictive and gets REALLY hot as in melt anything that touches it hot.

I ran the stock front sprocket on my 13 500. Definately do the front brake lever as the foot brake just flat sucks. On the air box, you need to run the TS screen over the factory foam filter. Take the filter out and clean it really good and get rid of all oil then use the screen over it. If you don't, the screen doesnt fit tight enough and will flap against the stainless screen in your filter cage which breaks it and sucks it into the intake valve and stops the engine. I have pictures and proof that this can happen.

The rod length is 14.25" center to center.

Adding oil to the forks def works but I just went full stiff on the compression clickers which helped and easy to change back in the spring.

I got rid of the airbox and ran a pod filter with snow skin. I put the temperature sensor through the front of the pod filter so it still senses the intake air temperature. I find the pod rarely get plugged up with snow. I bring in the pod filter to dry overnight between riding days so it doesn't freeze up overnight. Takes 1min on and off so no big deal. Great bike!
