KTM 500 gearing up?

My friend would like 1st and 2nd gear to be more usable on his 2013 500 xcw. Has anyone switched the chaincase gears and ran the 20 tooth on top and the 17 tooth on bottom? (2014 TS LT) I know this is quite a jump, but its doesn't cost anything to do.

I've done this with a 12 tooth on the countershaft. Works well. Keeps the gearing almost the same as 13 countershaft and 17/20 in the chaincase, except what was 2nd is now 1st, what was 3rd is now 2nd. What I really like is I can now do 60mph on the trail without having the bike on the rev limiter.
