My 2018 Camso arrived today! Going to be hooking up to my 500exc with a few add ons.
Recluse clutch, Raze heated bars, pr2 edu, Air Pro, PST engine blanket, wrapping the header pipe, FMF q4 pipe.
Anything I am forgetting? Anybody running this combo? I am looking for gearing advice in particular! Thanks.

I ran my 2016 LT on my 2015 500xcw. The shift from 3-4 is a big jump. Not sure that changing anything external to the transmission will make that big of a deal, but maybe run a smaller drive sprocket on the bike so that 4th is a little more useful? You'll never use 1st if you do.

Soooo, you are going to put an engine jacket on to keep temps up but wrap the header to get rid of all that heat out the back end? Put a exhaust shield on instead so that your pants are protected but you can still utilize the heat to keep temps up.

I wrapped my header on my sxf when I first set it up and ended up melting a big portion of my rear number plate(airbox) by the silencer. With no heat escaping at the header it all dispels at the silencer and gets crazy hot!!

I would rather use a carbon pipe guard than wrap the pipe, but thought the wrap would help keep the heat up better. I have not used the exc as a snow bike yet so have no idea what temp it will run with just an engine blanket. Anyone with an exc know?

I ran a 2004 500 exc for three or four years. Wrapped the pipe to not only save melted pants but to cut way down on steam. Steam sucks not only drifting up in your face and goggles when you stop but adding to the ice covering everything including you intake prefilter. The engine shroud that i used did not cover pipe so snow still hit pipe. Wrap cured all related issues.

My first wrap and spray lasted two years. Hit it with another can of spray on third season and original wrap was still good when i sold it except that the first couple inches of the wrap right by the head was burning thin. If I had to do it over again, I would immediatley wrap it just like the first time. I never had any heat issues but was probably running a hint on the rich side. If running lean, you make more heat.

I see no cons to wrapping; only pros.

As for temps, i used homemade radiator shrouds and could keep temps between 160 and 190 degrees in deep snow depending on the day. On trails, I'd pull the shrouds and on cold winter days, no heat issues. On warm spring days on the 10 mile trail ride in or out, I'd have to stop now and then and pack snow in the radiators. Would have had to do that way less if i would have taken engine shroud off in the spring, but never bothered.

we found pipe wrap is critical to keeping you bike dry and free of blue ice around the pegs/engine cases/air intake system and overal carring less weight on the bike.

to keep my 500 cool and warm I finally just went to a heat exchanger and pulled my radiators, bike warms up under the side covers better, runs 190 to 200, allows me to climb in the spring time slush and heavy snow without seeing 250 degree temps, the heat exhanger just really eliminated any heating issues when slow going hunting through steep slow climbs in the trees.

I would keep the AirPro but I would also put stiffer fork springs on it too. I blew my fork seals twice running 20 PSI with the AirPro. Now I only go up to 5 PSI. No fork seal issues.
