Koso EGT installation help 08 D8

Need some info about installing my EGT's. KOSO recommends placing the probes 4 inches from the piston skirt. I can't really do that using the clamp. Is everybody welding these in or how is everyone installing these? Also from where are most of you drawing power to run the gauge? KOSO's install instructions are not much help at all, in any area of the install. Any help would be awesome. Pics, info, anything. Did a search but didn't find anything of help.

I welded mine in as well on my last sled. Like you were saying with the clamps there is no way to get 4" away, even when welding them i think i got 3" at best. I got the power from by one of the plugs by the steering post but that was on a 06 rmk 600.

I came to the conclusion that I will have to weld them in yep. No other option. But I'm afriad it wont be happening for a while. Sled is at the dealer with another blown motor, and a cracked up bulkhead....

I took the clamps off and welded the nuts. Pretty sure they are at 4"

Motor and bulkhead, WTF are you doing to that thing?

Perfect that's what I'll do then too.

That's the problem.... I'm not doing scwat! I "thought" they had the motor issues fixed. Seems so they haven't. I rode the sled for an hour today just to see if it would burn down completely, no change. So I doubt it's my intake mods. It's just the stupid polaris 800 CFI to blame it seems. And the bulkhead, well I don't even know where to start with that. It's cracking up where the front motor mounts are attached to the bulkhead. I don't understand how it would crack there. It's cracking by both front mounts. To much power I guess. Funny thing is the motor mount strap that always breaks on these sleds, is still fine on mine.....

you can draw power from the accessory plug. it should be in around the key. Mine was real hard to find because polaris had wrapped it in electrical tape to the other wires. Also, you should buy the mounts that are designed for welding rather than trying to weld the ones that come in the clamp on style. They are different materials. I tried to get the welding shop to do it when i put egt's on my last sled and they laughed at me and said I gotta get the ones designed for welding.

You should be able to get 4" from the piston skirt if you weld them.

I didn't see any cracking on mine when I had the motor out last year.

Yeah I haven't ever heard of this happening to anybody before. Not anywhere online, or locally. I don't think it's something that's a common problem.... I don't know what's wrong with my chassis. This is the second time my chassis has cracked, last time was in the shock towers. I wish I knew why it's doing this.. I don't beat my sled. I ride hard but no harder than any normal guy who knows how to ride a sled. And I thought these things had near bullet proof bulkheads?

Thanks for the help guys. I know how I want to install them now. Just not sure when I'll be able to. But When the time comes I'll know now. :)

I found it easier to get the power from the plug for the projector beam you can get as an accessory.
This way you wont have to put out meters of wires, but i guess it might be diferent on your sled since you have relocated the tach..
