Knee Braces for ACL

I have the CTi Vapor sport for both knees with the patella protection cups. I've had the DonJoy as well.

I have compromised ACL/PCL/MCL in both knees.

Really like the fit and quality of the CTi's and the fact that you do not have to take your boot of and step thru it to put it on.

You will really like your brace and probably want one on both legs o nce you wear it a bit... Very close fitting and does not get in the way of clothing or movement.

ACL's in both knees. I trusted Asterisk braces for 6 years of snocross on two reconstructed knees. Rehab and getting the muscles strong again is the best defense then protect against hyperextension with the knee brace.

I now ride without braces here in alaska while playing in the mountians.

I agree, keep the muscles strong and should have no trouble. I am going on 15 years w/o an acl in my right knee. I broke it along with dislocating my hip as well as breaking my femur. After all the surgery and rehab with the other two I would not let them fix it. I carry a brace at all times when I go west but have never worn it, probably should. Knock on wood, mine has never failed-yet, but I am very concious about the position i put my knee in.

CTI's are an awesome brace! I have one for my knee post ACL, MCL, PCL, etc. surgery and have been very happy wth it.

One thing that I would really advise is that you need to hit the PT hard to get your thigh muscle bulked up. The last thing you want to do is get fitted for a $1,400 brace only to have it not fit you PERFECTLY later in the season because your muscles have bulked up. My two cents!

I use CTI. There is not a better brace. I had a Sun Life pay for them. You get what u pay for.

I agree with 907. I had mine reconstructed 14 years ago. I wore my CTI for a while but now I don't have to. My leg is stronger now than before the damage to the knee.

Good to know, any other kinds of sports your into? I've always been into things like sledding, wakeboarding, motorcross bikes, skiing, wrestling, etc, etc. Just not sure how far to push my luck. Used to being fearless when it comes to injuries, the ACL has left me a little gun shy. :face-icon-small-dis

I'm working hard to make it strong again, might just get the brace for peace of mind for a year or two. Anyone else had reconstruction and left fear and common sense behind? :bolt:

I did my second ACL (left knee) in 2002 and it took a good year before I could race without fear. It was a huge mental block to jump even a small double on the snocross track. I faced my fear every weekend and struggled thru. I finally sacked up and hit the 60' double and never looked back. I wish I would done it sooner and not wasted a season riding like a b----.

My knees feel stronger after reconstruction. Right knee 98 Left 02.

Good luck and hit the PT hard. Its worth it.
