KMS/BOONDOCKER UPGRADE

Just finished an up grade on the Boondocker kit with the KMS Plenum for a buddy, I will be testing it over Christmas in Island Park. Will post results as we go.image.jpg

Whonder why most turbo snowbikers buy Boondocker turbos?
Yes, BD has strong brand but not much information about their kits? Dyno charts, boost, fuel, enginge and clutch modifications?
When KMS makes a upgrade kit, that shows that BD hasn't done proper R&D?
Looks like BD cut corners to make a cheap and easy to build turbo kit.
Big plenum, plumming and enginge modifications costs money in manufacturing.
To make a performing and reliable kit is a bigger task than many may think.

Reason I got a boondocker is cause I was at the sled show and decided I was gonna get back into snowbiking by putting a deposit on a BD turbo before even knowing there was another company doing them....Its been a couple years since I was on snowest before that! Or else I wouldve bought a KMS. This upgrade isnt a whole lot of money so I think I will be going this way as well soon.

We have two days on bike I spent about 10 minutes adjusting fuel and been running stong. Rear mount does not have the bottom end of a front mount but it has lots of power. I would definately recomend the upgrade. I will post some video of it soon. Man is it getting cold in Island Park but have found 3-4 ft of powder the last two days.

Being honest we never tried it last year with the BD setup because we had feedback from a few buddies that had the stock BD Kits and they were not happy. When KMS had the fix we tried it. The rear mount does not have the torque my front mount does but is rideable and makes big power. We put 5 days on the bike and we never touched it the whole trip was very easy to adjust for the setup. I would recomend the upgrade kit and if you go on KMS site there are dyno sheets showing the difference between with and without the kit. Basically you will have less power than stock untill you get it spooled up on the BD kit. This makes the difference and is a cheap and easy fix. So basically you would be at the same cost as a KMS Kit when finished I believe. Hope this helped and good luck. :face-icon-small-hap

Here are two vidoes of my son riding the KTM 450sxf with a BD turbo and a KMS upgrade kit. He rode for 6 days and it ran perfect. Like Jason said above, he tuned it for maybe 30 minutes and we never touched it after that, just rode the hell out of it.

The first link is deceiving, he was tail walking it all the way up the hill. If you look closely on the left side you will see stuck sleds, there were probably 5 or 6 guys stuck on that hill.
