How hard would it be to make this work? I don't see fair kit from Timbersled for it? Does anyone have experience with the KLX 300. Going to build it as a demo bike.

No first hand experience with the KLX300 on the snow. I have ridden it a fair amount on the dirt however. The 250F or 2T MX bike would work fine in the Mid-west. You guys have endless miles of trails and rolling woods. The 250 class bike would work fine on an ST kit. The only draw back to the KLR would be the soft, trail engine. They have a very soft ignition map, cam, and heavy flywheel for a soft, gently engine characteristic. Will it turn your ST?, yes but I think it would be pretty "soft".

I could see the mountains, too. Primarily was thinking that way to get my 17 year old daughter out on one. Not sure she could handle a 450.

My 45 year old mother in law who had not riden a bike since she was a kid rode my 450f on the dirt. Of couse she did almost die in the process:face-icon-small-sho.

I think these kits and the snow rob way to much power for a 450 to be to much for anyone in the snow. Im a really light person. Most days not even 140lbs and my 450 felt like my 250f when I put a track on it.

With that being said I a have had one of my kits hooked to my 250f and it worked. Just alot slower is all.

I bought my used 450 with an ST kit already attached last year and rode it all season... then I switched it over to a dirt bike in the spring -- holy cow! What a beast of a dirt bike (in a good way).

So I agree that a 450 is easier to handle as a snowbike. The kit robs some power, and with the limited traction in the snow, the bike will never leap out from under you like it does as a dirt bike. In my opinion, the biggest challenge for new or younger riders is the height, and that's the same whether it's a 250, 300 or 450. My 11-year-old son rides an XR80 in the summer, but I'd like to let him try my 450 snowbike this winter. I'm not worried about the 450's power, but I do need to let him ride it in an area where he can fall over without hurting anything. It's going to be a few years before I let him try it in the summer, though.
