klim Gear

Im looking to purchase some Klim gear soon, Im wondering what style bibs coat to get. I do alot of ditch riding, black hills and mountain riding.

thanks for the info

Cannot go wrong with Klim.

Like many others, I have the Valdez Jacket, Togwotee bibs, Freeride pants, Summit gloves and the covert balaclava.

For a mid layer, I went with the Klim Inferno series and if it's really cold just wear Under Armor, under your mid layer. The layering is key!!!!

I have Tog bibs and the new Tomahawk jacket is awesome. I like it better than the Valdez.

I got the freeride pants and Tomahawk jacket during last season, and I love it. Can't really go wrong with any Klim gear though...

I ride with freeride pants and just ordered Powerxross pullover. Klim works well.

For midwest style riding, you may want to consider the new Vector parka. It has 200grams of thinsulate insulation to help on those cold days or if that is too much, the Kinetic parka has 100grams. Both are new this year, both goretex, you will love either one.

For mountain riding, the Valdez Parka and Togwotee bibs are my top choices (the tomahawk parka & powerxross pullover aren't far behind though) They aren't insulated, but if you're moving around a lot you don't need insulation. You'll never be wet in them.

If you use to wear a pair of jeans to ride in you may want to try some of their uninsulated gear.

You can start with a base layer and have a warmer Mid Layer that you can put on if its really cold. Then have the outer Layer.
Layering your gear like this you can ad the midlayer for cold days or just carry it in your pack or bag if you are really working or on a warmer day.

I personally can't wear much insulation or I overheat and start sweating alot. I carry a fleece liner in my bag and put it on if we are going to be stopped for awhile. Usually I am off bouncing around in the trees and such so I am not worried about getting cold with just an Under Armour style shirt, my TekVest and an outerlayer.

What ever you choose, you can't go wrong with Klim.

The Klimate is a good coat but warm, if your cold blooded it will work great. If not you might overheat.

Hay you know your stuff, thats the same set up i use for riding. Hard to beat it. I use the storm parka instead correct me if im wrong it is 400? still light and warm.
I must say you have super great service on your mail order, ordered new pepps just three days ago and it is here already, and that is with FREE SHIPPING.
Thanks Big Deal

What about the Klimate? I used to snowmobile in jeans and under armor shirt.
Maybe the layering would be nice but what do you wear?

I've been riding with my Klimate coat and Tog bibs for the last 4 years and REALLY like them... I don't personally care for layering and just like to throw my coat on and go and for the large part this coat works great for that purpose... just be careful when getting really active, it does a GREAT job at retaining LOTS of heat and may start to make you sweat.

Aggressor Pant and Aggressor LS Shirt = Base Layer
Summit LS Tech Tee and Inferno pant = Mid Layer

Storm Parka & Free Ride Pants w/ suspenders = Outer Layer

Toasty warms on the coldest & windiest of days........if the day or myself warms up, you gotta love all the multiple venting zippers on Klim gear.. :face-icon-small-win:face-icon-small-hap

Trying to decide on the jacket yet, tomahawk or vector? Also if you can share more about em great

It's gonna be tough to get real world input about the Vector being as its new to the Klim line this season. No one has ridden with it yet.

You are looking at 2 completely different jackets...apples to oranges so to speak.

Tomahawk is a Pro Shell and the Vector is insulated.

I had the Tomahawk a few years ago and loved it. Its a very warm, light weight, durable jacket.....I layer underneath it with a base and mid layer as well. If I got too hot, I used to pit vents and back vent to cool myself down.
Personally, I'm a Pro Shell fan, I don't like the bulkiness of the insulated jackets.

I wear a Klimate jacket and bibs on the cold days and switch to the powercross pullover on warmer days. Great products. Always keeps you warm and dry. Well worth the investment.

I've got the vector parka jacket picked out, I think I better get an insulated jacket cause I'm cold blooded. Do I need to consider insulated bibs? I planned on riding in sweet pants but haven't tried it yet so maybe that would go well with the togewote. Thanks for all the help

Whatever you do, don't ride with cotton sweatpants. The best setup would be to get the togwotee bibs and then get a non-cotton midlayer.
The KLIM inferno pants are AWESOME! If you want something a little heavier for the colder days, then check out the everest pants.
Whatever you end up getting, don't ride with cotton underneath your snowmobile gear.

Cant stress the NO COTTON! Enough.
You might as well take a bath with your riding gear on then go ride and try to stay warm.
The cotton acts like a sponge and holds all the moisture from your body and makes you colder. Even just as an insulator cotton sucks.
Use an Under Armour style synthetic base layer and a synthetic polar fleece mid layer.
Since I quit wearing a cotton tshirt i usually dont even need the mid layer fleece to stay warm. Under armour shirt tekvest and the jacket. I carry a polar fleece in case its really cold but seldom wear it.
