Klim F4 VS Fly Carbon Fiber

Buying a new helmet for the new season. What is your experience with these two helmets? I run hot and want good ventilation and durability. The Klim is about $100 more.

I have never run a Fly helmet, so no input there... However my Klim F4 is my favourite helmet so far. Fits me very well, better than any other helmet I have ever had. Ventilation is good, but I only use the winter liner on really cold days. The little "wing" decorations on the back are quite fragile, I think I only have one left. Doesn't affect anything, so I am not too worried about replacing them. Bottom line, if i was buying a helmet tomorrow, I would most certainly buy another Klim.

I tried Kim for one weekend, didn't really like it, especially for the amount that it cost. Sold it and bought a Fly F2, love it!

Do the large forward facing vents on top of the helmet fill up with snow? The Fly faces rearward and I wondered if the F4 pluged up. We ride in a lot of snow storms.

I have a buddy that runs a Klim F4 and he really likes it. I've heard they do run cooler, especially if you keep the standard liner in it.

I upgraded helmets last year as well, tried on a ton of different helmets and did a ton of research. I ended up with a Troy Lee Designs SE-3 and really like it so far. The fit is great, good ventilation and there a little more unique, you don't see to many on the hill.

I haven't worn a Klim but I've run the Fly carbon for two winters now and love it... very well made, extremely light, I don't sweat a lot so can't offer much there as far as keeping cool, interior is something that stands out..fits like a glove..seriously!. .I would buy another one in a minute and worth every penny.

I absolutely love the Klim F4. Have you tried them on? How do each fit you? Gonna be hard to get a good opinion and find someone that has worn both.

The vents are great. I always run hot so they keep me cool. It comes with a gore-tex liner that you can put in to keep out snow and wind. I honestly never have an issue with snow coming in.

I like my F4. It keeps me warm, even with the lighter liner in it. But not so warm that sweat rolls into my goggles. Now, the trim is weak. The vents and mouth piece break and fall off, never to be found again and it costs a small fortune to get replacements. Plus they crack with the slightest impact. I went ahead and got replacements and before I put them back on, I filled them with silicon and re-installed. Wiped off the squeezings and was good to go.

Question for anyone with the F2 which I just bought. I saw I could get the breath box and the cold weather plug kit.

Is it necessary if Im wearing my Klim Covert baclava and 509 sinisters? At what temps may they be needed? Thanks sick deals on them here got the red!

Well this post is about niether....so hear me out.

The new MotorFist Dominator helmet is lighter than most carbon fiber helmets and cost less coin. I could give you all the specs and fancy talk about it. IMO, think it is the safest helmet period. It just happens to be super light because of it's patented construction.

and for a good laugh check this out.

I don't know much about about the motorfist but they dont really say why it is the safest helmet. There is no evidence to back it up. They have a great marketing demonstration.

It may or may not be a great product/idea. Not saying either way but almost any helmet is going to protect your head. You pay for comfort. There was an actual scientific study done by an independent source a few years ago. Even cheap auto parts store helmets were safe.

It is the ONLY helmet where the foam in the helmet is actually bonded to the shell of the helmet. No other helmet does this and it is only done in one factory that has the rights to do it.

When you take an impact the head goes through 2 collisions. The air gap between the foam and the shell, like most helmet.

The Dominator takes one step. Its all connected inside.

Check this review. The MotorFist Dominator has the same tech inside.

Another write-up on the Fusion tech on the EPS liner bonded to the shell
