Klim Backpack how to carry probe

I have the Klim backpack. But the avalance probe that I have is about 3/8" dia. When folded up it will not fit into the pocket on the bottom side of the pack. It fit fine in my HMK pack.

Any ideas? I plan on buying a new lighter weight probe I think. At this time I just have 4 or 5 of the ends stuffed into the pocket. Don't really like how this fits. I wish Klim would have made the pocket a bit bigger in Dia. Shovel handle fits fine but not the probes.

This is how I do it

I have the carbon fiber probe from an outfit in Jackson hole and it fits great. Almost a perfect fit. Go ahead and get a new pole, you won't believe how light and strong these carbon jobbers are.

Sorry not trying to jack your thread but other than probe issue is this a pretty good pack (nack pack right?) thinking of getting one, worth the $ or should I consider another?.

I wish it was more waterproof, my stuff gets wet in my Klim pac.

other than that I kinda like it, could be a touch wider as the pack is pretty narrow but it clamps down pretty small.

Just put the probe inside the pack. You already have a good probe...........no sense in getting a smaller one. I took an avy course from Mike Duffy snoww1 or something like that on here. He knows his chit and said the larger diameter probes are the ones you want.

New here but here's my advice just the same.

hey guys, my take on packs is there is only one manufacturer out there for me and thats DAKINE. hands down most innovative packs going and sold for $99 canadian. The HELI-PRO is a sweet pack and is what I wear. Mine is a 20 litre pack but can get 16's. has ski/board straps and spine board all removeable, fleece lined spare goggle pocket, strong materials and the winter editions are all lined with a rubber type substance so nothing ever soaks through to your gear. They have shovel pocket and handle strap and hook and the sides. wicked comfy shoulder straps ect. and the best part is it has a small inslulated pocket on the waist strap for a camera for quick easy acces. perfect size for a flat type camera

My wifes is called the PILOT and is a lowprofile pack, about 16 litres, still has seperate shovel pocket and outer straps ect. has sealed inner pocket for dry items ect and ski straps on the outer side. rubber sealed zippers even.

Ive back coutry skied for a long time and these always were top of the line. Now im a hooked sledder with a new sled just waiting to go and I will never buy another brand again. Ive owned alot of packs so trust me and buy a dakine bag. They have a tonne of models and sizes for anything you can think of even back country photographer packs for you guys who film of photograph . Man I should go work for these guys or at least get paid for this haha.

Dont buy a BCA pack(back country access) they are crap!shred like wet kleenex on any branches and teh probe/shovel holders suck!
