KING CAT update....

I would guess the blow by was caused by the near fatal cold seizure. The scuff marks in a 4 corner pattern on the piston is a defendant sign of cold seize. That motor REALLY needs to be good and warm before you take off wide open down the trail.

Low altitude and running cold will take out one of these very quickly! They need to be jetted up and ZR needles installed as the airbox jetting chart says. Too many people ride these at home when it snows and they will do this! Take some paper towels and place along the crank throws and let it wipe the bottom end clean. Do it over and over with a new towel until it comes out clean. Do this by turning the clutch by hand. Mike

Yes, ZR needles and warm it up good. Make sure your rear heat exchanger is warm BEFORE you take off. Stock pistons are really tough, but anything will cold seize when it is jumped on too quickly.

Are zr needles needed one these sleds for mountain riding? Will they help out with that BAD lean spot?

Someone else posted that there is no difference between these, just slightly different part #'s I do believe the ZRT900/1000 triple needles are the ones we want? Idacatman1/3 run these so I would assume they would have the answers? Mike

The Thundercat needle I have been talking about is part number 6506-200 and has the same tapers but is just a bit smaller and richer through the whole range. The stock needle is 6506-201 9DFH2-59 and the Tcat one is 9DFH2-58.
The 58 and 59 refer to diameter, smaller number = smaller diameter and richer.
