Hey guys Im am curious what that everyone is running for pistons on there big bore 1m's! Are the pistons a custom piston, or are they a piston from another engine like the M1000?

most pistons are proprietary to the makers kit. stock cylinders can handle up to around 1006cc (1010) but 1080 1125 & 1147 need custom cylinders and case work to fit skirts into case as well as transfer port work at case cylinder marriage base.

You can use an M1000 piston to get 975cc. Anything else uses pistons like Booster said, all I know of come from Wiseco.

975

When using the M1000 piston is the piston pin located in the exact same locationas far as from the top of the piston to the center of the wrist pin?

shims

Thanks for all the info so far!! Is there somewhere I can purchace these shims? if not how thick are they?

I have some shims in stock. I have some 0.063" and some 0.050" thickness. The stock base gaskets are about 0.015" thick and the after market ones I am familiar with are about 0.019" so you can get a range of height to raise the cylinder. The difference in height of the wrist pin hole in the piston is about 0.090" if I remember right. What combination of shims and gaskets to use depends a little on how much compression you want and if you want to play with the port timing. I can sell either set of shims for $40 shipped in the lower 48. Hope this helps more than confuses.
