Killer tree riding in Alpine WY today

We had an amazing ride in the Salt Rivers out of Alpine today. The snow is great--better than they had most of last year. We spent the day carving tight lines through tight trees all day in over-the-hood powder.

I'll post some pics later tonight, but just wanted to say that if you were planning on sitting on the couch watching football tomorrow, get out and start riding. Put some miles on your sled. Get some use out of your gear. Go have fun. There hasn't been a better start to a season in years.

I rode my new Pro today in some deep snow and love it, I agree go and ride peeps we haven't had this much snow for Nov/early Dec in years, heading out again in the morning and hopefully will get some good footage of a few Pros in the Idaho pines!!

So we had Rocky and Jared from BD on the snow doing some testing, and Steve Janes, Tony Jenkins and myself on the three stock 800s racking up some miles for the upcoming Deep Powder Challenge, which coincidentally, will actually have deep powder this year.

So these pics don't really fit into the 'killer tree riding' title, but the camera doesn't come out much in the nasty stuff. Actually, I broke the zipper on my Lowepro camera pack riding in the trees today. The Pro helped two 30-foot dead standing trees become deadfall trees. The Summit couldn't keep a windshield attached in the woods (big windshield, not the little one). And there's rubber track marks on the hood of the M8 now. Not really the best/easiest environment to shoot photos in, so we did the shots out where it's a little more open.

I was so glad to open up this thread! I'm actually walking out the door to go ride Alpine as we speak! Even more excited now!

I clicked on this thread so I could see pictures of the "killer tree". You know, the one that jumps out right in front of you at the last moment. "CARNAGE". I was bummed. But then I saw the other cool pics. Looks like a blast. Soon!!! Need more snow here in the NW.

There were killer trees just like what you said, just no camera. Had to skateboard up one log that rose out of the snow, pop off it with enough juice to mow down a 4-inch standing dead tree to keep the line going. Maybe a helmet cam is a good idea.

I love the pic in post #7. I would love to ride in a big aspen and pine forest like that some day. I live on the side of a mountain with a beautiful river in the valley below and in your face mountains on the other side filling my view out my windows, but our skinny birch and spruce trees just aren't the same as what you guys have down there. Thanks for sharing your day fourthmeal!

Great pictures!! Thanks for posting, will be leaving for Alpine via N. Wisconsin in 53 short days. BTW what camera are you using? Thanks!
