Kids TekVest

So, AKSNOWRIDER, made a great suggestion about getting my son a TekVest yesterday.

I have been doing some online shoping and it seems the only game in town is the Tekvest brand? Is this the only kids chest protector out there? What is everyone else using?

Does anyone out there have one that their kid has out grown that they may want to part with?

Thanks

I learned the hard way with mine, he came off the top of a 30 ft hill just a bit to fast, hit a lip at the top which threw him into the bars and pinned the throttle, long story short, when he hit the bottom at 30+ mph he endoed, sled just stomped him into a hole in the snow..when I got to him..I thought he was dead( a broken back and many injuries for sure), we got lucky, other then a bunch of bumps and bruises..and every ounce of air knocked from him...he was ok...but that is by far the scariest 30 minutes of my life(it was only my son and daughter there and no cell reception until you rode up over some big hills...)even with all my training in firstaid/cpr and stuff..I was scared bad..but we got him up after an hour and he rode to the truck, went home and before we rode again we all sported tekvest...it has saved all of us many times over while riding, and one peice of equipment (like their helmets)they have to wear when we ride...

Tek Vests for kids are your best bet. The protection for impact is more important to me than the roost guards. My son rides in front of me and I was worried about an impact between me and the bars.

I was curious about sizing because my 5 year son was between peewee and kids. I ended up emailing Tek Vest for a recommendation and the owner ended up emailing me back with suggestions on sizing and he even followed up after we got the vest to make sure it fit ok. Anyways, he suggested a little big to grow into, as he can always wear over his coat if it is a little big.

I got his off ebay for like $130?? Pretty cheap insurance.

Good luck!

I think there was a child killed at Monte a few years back. Was riding on the front and collided with something and the person in back crushed the child. Bad deal!!

When Corbin's is too small to go over his coat he can wear it under his coat. I figure I'll get 4 yrs out of it. On yr 2 now and it's still over the coat:). Tekvest! It's 3 times sturdier than his motox vest.

And Corbin has hit his bars a dozen times while racing and always keeps going
