Kids helmet help

i just got one for my 5 year old doughter its a full face bell helmet pink an silver i also got a pair of youth goggles for her its a dot helmet an was only around 65 $ i got it at helmet outlet usa.com they are great to work with.

I have 4 children ages 2 thru 10.

For my 5 year old a pink butterfly sticker works on her HJC helmet.

My 10 year old daughter MUST have pink skulls.

I found some adult XXS and XS works.

Some of them want to be like Dad some want to be the opposite of Dad.

Buy a Balaclava so they don't freeze.

If you get a full face helmet coat the lens with baby oil so it minimizes fogging. The down side of the full face is the lens replacement. The upside is warmth.

For MX a BIG 5 sporting goods was selling goggles for $10. The upside on the MX is cheaper to replace googles over a helmet lens.
The downside is warmth but can be resolved a balaclava.

There are many safety standard certifications DOT DOT3 and I think the most stringent safety certification is ECE.

IMHO I am uneasy with "imported" no name brand helmets with any certification "stamped" on the helmet.

I bought a new SHOEI helmet for $1XX , a HJC for $50 and some China helmet for $20 ... all new.

I bought a open face Vega helmet for my oldest. Took some getting used too....we are still working on it. She doens't mind wearing it with googles, but cheek bads stil bug here.

It's DOT approved. Got it for maybe 50 bucks....saw the same brand at a local shop for 85. Either they ahve gone up in price or more likely the shop is high as usual for them.

I got a pink XXS for my 5 year old daughter last year. The one I got from my local dealer. But I can bet differant padding for it and change the size up to a large. So I will not have to buy a hole new helmat as she get bigger. Works for me.

My 4 year old daughter has the same Vega Helmet but she has scott kids goggles This is her second year with it I got it at a polaris shop it was around 50 bucks

I use ski helmets for my girls because I am afraid the weight of the larger helmets would do more harm than good. Now that they are 5 and 6 I will upgrade to a moto helmet but when they were smaller the ski helmets worked great.

Ski helmet and goggles for the boys 2-5 yr old. Now have a HJC mx helmet for the 5y/o. Adult goggles fit better in a youth helmet and give better face coverage than kids goggles in a mx helmet.

I had originally bought my kids full face helmet's but they hated then went to the open face helmet and they love them i think they are lighter. I'll have to try the adult goggle's on them this year .
