Keep breaking Muff Pot Base

Does anyone have a fix to their muff pot bases cracking on the corners of the bends? I've gone through 4 of these now on 3 different sleds. Have to be able to tighten the base down real well or it comes loose over time. Was thinking of making a thicker base (tig) and riveting back on the hold downs. Anyone else have a better solution? Yes I know I can send it back for warranty, but I want to NOT have to worry about it anymore instead of a new one that will just crack again.

The hose clamp that came with my muff pot on the pipe never really stayed tight enough.

Hafta try something different.

But I've never broke anything though.

I have never had a problem with the hose clamp. Maybe you are giving it too much gas and getting your burrito too hot. When you get a new one try riding at half throttle for a while! Have to break it in like a new belt.

Maybe the base is cracking due to vibration??? I had the same problem with cheap hose clamps that came with my Muff Pots. I bought better quality clamps (more screw contact and heavier gauge clamp material) and have never had them come loose again.

I bought 2 marine grade hose clamps and used both to hold the base on. When I had the 1150 it would crack the base in just a few rides and this was the only thing that stopped it. FWIW

Same here, I was so looking forward to enjoying some great meals when riding, the base on mine broke after three rides on the "Old high Miler", clamp was still tight, ..guess it wasn't 900 RMK proof!!! LOL!!
