Kakwa Lake To Mt. Sir Alexander

Hello All,

I started riding the Kakwa Area this year and was wondering if it is possible to come in from the Grande prairie side and ride from the cabin out at the lake to Mt. Sir Alexander or if one has to come in from Mcbride or something.

If its possible how much extra gas does it require, i can pack 5 gallons with me atm, and how much time it takes from the cabin and back.
And just how hard of a ride is it.

Thanks for any info, especially GPS coordinates for the trail if possible.

PS. Great snow out there this year.

Iv heard its not possible to go from kakwa to mcbride. But I think you can go from some cabin by prince George to kakwa

i had a friend blow his track on a yamaha nytro on mt alexander from kakwa side

Its no problem to get back into alexander from the kakwa side, I'd only go on a clear day few hard pokes to get back there to, if you haven't been there I don't recomend. If your new to the area there are better day trip areas to ride.

You talking about duggan shredding his track on his nytro few years back?

Very possible, its just easier from the BC side, just up from the club cabin, done the loop a few times back around to the lake. Big climb up on to the backside from the lake side, need good snow or big sleds to go from that direction. doesnt take that long to get up there... But some of the best riding is up there< so u might want to pack a pail of gas.

PG

Its been a bunch of years but our group met three guys from the PG cabin at Mt. Alexander. Conditions where pretty good and all three of them were riding Turbo Apex's. We came from our wall tent at Border Town. Its a long ride even from there!

Nice pics

Nice pics Himark. Its been a while, but I've sat in that saddle before!

Thanks guys, going out to kakwa friday probly... but alexander will have to wait till next year maybe.

We were back there last weekend. That's where the best snow was.
