Just pulled apart my 11 pro

Decided to pull apart my 2011 pro bd turbo. It has 1500 miles on it with no issues. Upon inspection the pistons are done. Not scored or melted or anything just rings were blowing by and they look like they have 5000 miles on them. rod bearings looking pretty done also. Cyl bores look perfect and measure all within .0005. Piston clearence however is up .0085. The reeds have a few chips in them but thats all. Just FYI for you guys. Now the question is to go with the rktek pistons, Polaris stuff or maybe one of the others, Thoughts guys?

Same setup as you and i went with RK Tek's drop in pistons. Im in the process of rebuilding right now so i cant give much of an opinion yet.

IMO, you know how bad the pistons are with 1500 miles, why would you put the same thing back in? I put RK Tek pistons in both of my sleds, now we need more snow.

allblownup

were all those miles turboed ? and did you adjust oiler ?
thanks

I run from 1700 ft to 7000 ft from 10-14 lbs of boost everywhere. No I didn't turn up my oiler but I add oil to every tank of fuel instead.

Usually turbo pistons tend to be heavier to deal with the extra heat. It's a little bit of a trade off as the better piston clearence should transfer heat quicker but the piston is lighter so you can heat it up quicker. I will be measuring a new piston today and make a decision.
