What is the approximate amount of time a snowmobile would last without oil?

depends on the type of sled and conditions but i'd say anywhere from warm up to maybe a mile or 2.

My 14 year old tested this in real life a year ago. From the time he ran out of oil until it locked up was about 5 minutes hacking around in the yard.

Dont ask how I know this....

If your WFO going down a lake maybe 1/2 mile?

My daughter lasted 15 min on her 120 till it locked up. Put oil in it got it spinning and it has lasted two more years so far. does that count. lol

The reason i ask is at our local dealer they are having a snowmobile blow up, where they run it without oil and people guess how long it'll last and whoever is the closest wins 500 bucks.

Are they saying if they are going to run it wide open or idle? It may go for a while at idle.

I wish i knew, they didn't give any details? just that its not going to have any oil in it.
