So I needed a part for my Sled, didn't get to ride last weekend because my y pipe was hammered. Ordered a part paid extra shipping for 3 day priority Mail. receipt says expected delivery 02/21/14. and it doesn't show up. call local post office after 45 min. can't get thru do to technical difficulty call the 1-800 # spend 32 in. on hold, and girl says she can email my local office to call me that was 2.5 hours ago. what a cluster buk. now my weekend is shot, can't go out of town as planned. i won't get part until 11am tomorrow. *uck u -usps

Still way better than $50+ "2 day supposedly blue label" UPS 5 Day service!

I concur; USPS is the way to go at least to Alaska. Far better service and speed than the private carriers (UPS and FedEx) and always less than half the cost. There are some rare glitches but in my experience the Post office is one thing the government has gotten down better than the privateers, at least for Alaska.

Sorry for your delay, hopefully you got it this morning.

I agree! I email on-line retailers and ask them to use USPS instead of their usual FedEx/UPS carriers to knock freight charges down by over 50%. Flat Rate boxes have also been awesome for me. I usually hear that they prefer the tracking of FedEx/UPS, so I have to tell them I'm good with the poor USPS tracking (I usually have the item before the tracking ever shows a status).

FedEx is no better. I got some parts yesterday for an old truck I am restoring that was supposed to be delivered Friday. The box is about 5 feet long and it looks like it had been folded in half. The parts in it are bent beyond use and now I will have to file a claim and wait for the parts again. All shipping companies SUCK!!!!!!!! they just don't give a crap

Wouldn't that be a reason TO use USPS, you've already paid part of the fee.

My sentiment exactly!

Much rather have my tax dollars go to that than……..Bonuses for Wall street and other corporations that drove the economy into the toilet to start with; Welfare, unemployment, Social security of which I will never need or be able to use. Retirement and medical for the dirtbag politicians that did not do what we voted them into office to do, Etc. Etc. Etc……………………………..

Sorry for the derail

It really pisses me off when a customer pays for the shipping and doesn't get their parts on time. Happened this weekend

I buy a fair amount of things from the states for sleds and the usps is the best way for me to ship. If I really need to I will use fedex but I will not use ups. I have passed on more than one deal because the seller will only ship ups. Shipping across the border adds a level of cost and grief no one needs, hands down usps is the best for shipping across the border.

USPS for Alaska and Canada are the only way to go. I shipped a part to c3 power sports in November. USPS wanted $80 UPS wanted $495. (That's not a typo.)

My ol' lady works for USPS. She's worked the rural and city routes and now she's working inside the office.
Couple things you all should know...

1. FedEx and UPS both use USPS for the majority of their long hauls. Doesn't make any sense to me to use 1 company that uses a competing company to get the job done. I'd rather just go through the company that's doing all the real work.

2. USPS is not paid for or subsidized by tax payer money. When it comes to finance, USPS is and has been run like a regular, commercial company for years now. The only real difference is USPS is controlled by congress. They don't have the same flexibility as their competitors because they can't make any real policy changes without congress giving the A-ok and we all know how good our congress is at taking care of business. That's why the cost of stamps keeps going up every few years. It's their main source of income.

Don't get me wrong... I'm not trying to stick up for them. They screw up just the same as any other company and their union is a farce that protects the slack asses and stifles the productive, the same as most other unions.
I just thought you guys might like to know a little bit about the service your bitching about.
