Just got it done for the night. All I need to do is install the exhaust. The question I have is:
the heat shield under the exhaust manifold does not get re installed correct? I think it's just there for the oil bottle more than anything else.

Thanks

it also stops the injector harness from melting, put it back on. the 07 didn't have any shield and they had lots of melting problems, thats why all the new sleds have them.

I don't run the bracket, thought it attached to the bottle itself?
I do have venting instead of headlights though for sake of comparison, but after about 2k miles no signs of melting at all. (also stock pipe)

Yeah the shield attatches to the oil bottle. I am just going to clean allthe wiring up and foil tape it. I have no headlights either so there is plenty of ventilation already. Thanks everybody.

Is everyone mixing 40:1 like they say? I was going to start maybe a little richer than that.

Thats what I was thinking of running was around 36:1. Anymore than that seems a little rich.

I run 32:1. The heat shield is there in case your y-pipe donut starts to leak. Stops the exhaust gas from frying your injectors and wiring. I trimmed it and built a bracket, so I could keep it. Heat tape might protect it good enough, but I didn't want to find out.

how many ounces of oil do you usually add to a tank of gas to get to say 32:1. also do you guys premix in a can or just add to the tank when refueling

4oz/gallon.

I've been mixing in tank for the last few (all my cans are full of race gas) & know it's not the best idea, makes me nervous.

I also mix in the tank. Been doing that my whole life. I use a ratio rite and always make sure im first to fill so i can keep track off the gallons.
