How high can I raise the bars without throttle or brake line extesions?

Where's the best place to get parts and a shop manual?

What oil should be used?

The sled has 2200 miles. What should the compression be?

The belt that came on it is a 415-1063. The manual supplement on the Ski-Doo site says to use a 415-0990. Are either of those correct or is there a better option?

Tips, Tricks, or insights on this machine are much appreciated.

Thanks guys!

Parts and shop manual on CD from EBAY CHEAP CHEAP

I've used Klotz and Blue Marble with no problems

These sleds and motors are bullit-proof, shed weight as fast as you can, can (I have a THING), remove hood foam, remove sway bar, stretch it out, D/R for better approach angle, lighten the seat by removing some foam (most) and replacing it with lightweight pool toy tubes, reclutch if it's stock, and regear ohhh and change the skis if they're stock

Thanks guys!

That's where I would start.

Thanks Sturgis. What's the part number of the belt you use. Can you give specifics of the clutch (Primary or secondary or both? weights, springs, helix?) and gearing (top and bottom size and chain size) changes you did?

I agree on the 127 belt. I run 287 ramps (stock), yellow spring, 44 degree HRP coated helix, 20/44 gearing. Mine has 156 x 2 on it. Also has drop and roll, lost wieght where I could, BRTech hood, and dropped mains one size. It has been a great sled, gonna miss it in a way:(

i just sold my 98 670 with a 151 and it had a can on it and it ripd! ur gunna love it! i managed to squeeze a 4" riser on it but just had to cut a zip tie to get some more slack in the throttle cable and break lines...sold it before i got to see if i actually needed an xtension but who knows. they are great and bullet proof sleds! and as far as oil goes i just ran yamalube and i had no issues. enjoy!

Compression

Oh ya, my 670 has 145 lbs. compression @1200 feet

Use the -127 belt.
Clutching, 294 ramps, 200-320 primary, straight 44 Doo helix with beige spring or Goodwin blue spring set at about 14-16lbs of pull, as much primary weight as it will pull at your altitude and track length etc... I ran 19g at 3-6000ft and a 141. This settup will run with stock 800's with similar track length, that 670X is a strong sled for it's size!!
A susp setback with a longer track is a good option, not sure how much $$ you want to spend.
Also, make sure the plug caps are TIGHT to the plugs and use a little dilectric silicone gel in the caps to prevent arcing, this would raise hell with the '98 MPEM and cause all sorts of erratic symptoms.
One of my all time fav sleds!
