Just a few questions about gear

So this is my first year riding with my own sled and i dont really have any snowmobile specific apparel, only regular winter clothing and a dirt bike helmet. so i was thinking i should either stick with my Moto helmet and simply buy some snowboarding goggles that fill the space in the helmet nicely or should i opt for a full blown sledding helmet? also i have been riding with a nice pair of insulated rubber boots for the past few seasons on my buddies sled, but i found my old pair of snowboard boots the other day and they dont look like they have anything on it that could damage the sled seat so i was thinking of running with those for a season, but if anyone has any thoughts on the matter let me know, and last i was thinking of buying some form of one peice snow suit to ride with so i dont have to worry about a snow skirt. it sounds good in theory to me but the only thing that makes me skeptical is i hardly see people out there with them. anyones opinion is appreciated

thanks

Stick with the moto helmet. A breath guard and some dual pane lens goggles and you will be set to go.
Your snowboard boots should work just fine. Many of the the aggressive snowmobile boots have been modeled after them anyway.
Most people don't like the one piece suit design. Back in the day we all had one. Hinders movement to much. Plus they are next to impossible to find anymore. Not very versatile with changing conditions either.
Hope that helps. Enjoy the new sled.

You're on the right track with the boots, helmet and googles, the one piece you'll want to rethink, because of changing conditions day to day and throughout the day for that matter you'll want to dress in layers. It's real easy to be overdressed at the start of a ride but when you start to warm up you'll want to lose a layer or two, not to mention if you or one your buds get stuck the one piece is tough to peel off and still help with the dig, a good pair of bibs works best.

I think you should get some Klim Free Ride pants, I have a pair and love them, they are by far the best pants i have ever worn. And as for a jacket anything from Klim or HMK would work awesome!!!:D:D:D

First off you have to see what temperatures you ride in, you do not want clothes that are made for -20F and you do your riding in 14F....
The snowboard boots are just fine, I use winter hunting boots form a Norwegian company called Alfa (Alfa Bever extreme).
One piece is as stated above not practical and you would want to throw the jacket when you're hot and not the whole thing;)
The 509's are great, you won't regret buying them.

Agree with above and I will add. The things that made the biggest difference to me was having good layering gear. Make sure that you do not wear cotton. Get a base/mid/shell setup for your coat and bibs. That made an awesome difference when I stopped riding in jeans for example. It helps you dry which helps to regulate your temp.
