Curt has done a nice job with dialing in this 100% billet motor using the ViPEC ECU. Crisp and clean. The best sled I have ever ridden....

Three of the best ingredients Union Bay Racing , Power Addiction, Ruth Power.... cooked to perfection by Curt at Fastrax.
Youtube clicky

Lynn that is bad ***!!! We know have two of these PAR Billet motors running on the vipec, and it will continue to grow. I think I may build a 1100 turbo now should be cool!!

Lynn and Curt... That thing is awesome.... 1000 compared to the 1100 PAR.... What are the differences?

What kind of "Character differences" do you feel will this have compared to an 1100 on the same base?

What are the "Pro's and cons" of an iron liner compared to a Nikasil?

Premix motor from the looks of it???

Keep up the good work!!

On a minor note...
Want to let us in on the details of the fuel filter and hose setup...
Selling those as a "kit" or maybe what parts were used?
Micron rating on the filter?

Lynn and Curt... That thing is awesome.... 1000 compared to the 1100 PAR.... What are the differences? Same billet crank, billet case. Basically the bottom end was supplied by PAR that is used on the 1100. Difference is the UBR billet 7 port jugs and head.

What kind of "Character differences" do you feel will this have compared to an 1100 on the same base? Hard to say... One thing I can say, the ViPEC is "the real deal". Complete visibility of all tables, spark, fuel, timing, data logging etc. and came in very handy when running on the dyno. Going from the dyno to the hill with the same ambient air/conditions was cool too. Gave a very good base line for future support and set up that will come in handy to assist customers from initial dial to final location. Now, couple that with the best handling chassis ever (thank you Polaris!)...... (our test sled does have an aftermarket rear skid and FTX sauce with dual rates on the walkers in front)... It will be hard not to want one for myself....

Premix motor from the looks of it??? Yes

Keep up the good work!! thanks! :)

Micron rating on the filter? Trade secret! LOL... J/K, that is a question for Curt.

Let it snow!!!

My guess from the thread in General.

$12,000 Motor, FTX says a pipe is included at that price

$725 Billet motor mount, Probably optional or you could get away with torque stops

$2000 Vipec w/extra sensors if you buy Skadi's or $2500 new

$300ish Clutching

we, precision efi, have developed the 2 stroke standalone ECU exactly for this kinda projects.....we are HP freaks and can't get enough of those billet engines, big bore, turbo kits !!!!! keep up the good work guys!! it is going to be a fun year with the introduction of the a/c ECU also.

again congratulation!!

There's just something about a smooth, shiny exhaust port that just gets me going! WOOHOO! That is sexy!

I guess this is Lynns way of forcing me onto the forums....thanks buddy...had to hear it from MH this morning!

So yes, it rips. we went out with the intention of confirming the fuel mapping from our dyno work over Memorial weekend so I regrettably didn't address the clutching and gearing like I should have. Its making just shy of 200hp on the single pipe and wants to run at 8-8100 rpm. The torque comes on hard and quick and as a result of the light clutching, the engine would immediately shift the belt right to the top of the primary so long speed runs were out of the question...plus the snow had zero traction anyway.

So, we focused on the fueling. As expected, we had to lean it out a bit from 4500-7000 from the dyno mapping since we can't load a sled on the snow as hard as the dyno does. The top end fueling was what I consider to be "happy" and safe by the plugs and wash while showing 12.4-12.7 on the O2 (in the belly of the pipe).

After that, super responsive, no hiccups, up/down/sideways/backwards....good stuff.

Character: if you've ever ridden a 900 or 1150 UBR engine that was tuned well, this has the same or better throttle response and the power is more similar to the 1150 due to the strong torque Brads bottom end provides. Basically, this engine is a stroker version of the Billet 900 UBR engine. I intentionally mounted it with the 4 stock engine mounts only (I didn't use the 2 extras like I normally do) to really get a good feel for harmonics and vibration compared to stock. I can honestly say that it is WAY smoother than a stock engine at any throttle setting, the bars don't violently shake at idle and the buzz in the chassis is gone--this crank combo from Power Addiction works-period.

This is the second engine we've had the Vi-Pec on and I'm a huge fan. Granted, we have a few more tuning tools at our disposal for development so maybe we make it look a bit easier than it will be for some, but as its use spreads, the availability of base maps will make it a little easier every time. In any case, I wouldn't use anything else on an engine like this. after spending all winter with the other fuel controllers, the end result is if you can't correct the timing also, you'll never have a well rounded, safe package. All of the stock functions are there and work flawlessly (all sensors, electronic reverse, mfd guage etc) and without the hassles of overly sensitive det circuits or rev limiters to hold us back. Again, big fan here!

This is a pretty mellow engine build aimed at a mountain rider, not a "ringer" race engine as our focus was more on the fuel injection and tuning than making huge numbers--we can now take what we've learned and easily adapt it to older carbureted engines for example and give them the benefits we have in our new tech sleds.

No secrets in the fuel filter--its a GM napa filter, I plumbed the system using -AN fittings with GM style quick disconnects at the fuel pump and filter for easy servicing and cheap filter changes. Brad built the manifolds, I fabbed the rail and away we went!

Its a shame it costs so much for us to get this result in the Polaris....we'll see what the future brings!

Gotta get to work---more later!

Curt

hope to be able to test drive this beast within next season, congrats once again.
