Just bought a New Anniversary Nytro from our friends at Cooke City Motorsports...

Ordered the timbersled front and rear, then will throw some miles on it before goin boost!!!

Will be riding it this weekend, cannot wait!!!

Congrats, you will love it.

I would not invest to much more than you already have in light weight parts because once you turbo it the thing feels weightless! Enjoy.

thanks, I agree, wanted sub 500lbs...and I am there...or shortly there...

and want to put a few miles on it prior to boost...

only other mods will be track and possibly floats on the front...and possibly snow eliminators??? areyou guys enjoying those? need them?

how much boost is "big boost"??

how much boost on stock internals on nytro?? Been considering going to the blue side, but have concerns on cost of build to run big boost.

speaking conservatively, without head shim and fuel pump and injectors, some other stuff...you can very safelyget 7-9lbs. of boost...and for me that is all I am really interested in, as my goal for this sled was under 500lbs. and over 200 HP, with bullet proof reliability...with the kit I am putting on, and the lightweight stuff I have done I am exactly there...

others can get more boost with head shims etc. etc. but I am electing to keep as much as stock as I can...

stock stuff is good to around 17-18lbs boost with head shim & a good tune up + good fuel.

and for the popcorn crowd...17 lbs. of boost takes the nytro to 130+ stock HP plus 10HP/lb of boost, so that puts you VERY close to 300HP...that sounds like big boost to me...

so for big boost, need good rods, what else??
main bolts?
different pistons?

if you want to go all out a set of je 9.4:1 pistons & arp head studs & turn it up 25+lbs if you can ride it over 22lbs most of the 4s get tough to hang on to lots of on off throttle but it will make you smile like nothing else.:D:beer;:beer;

so no good rods, no need for main bolts,
just good pistons, and head studs. not bad

been running a two stroke turbo, and considering a apex build for next season

Not sure on all this "info" flying around but you should probably call one of the prominent engine builders building these sleds and talk to them about the "boost" capabilities on stock internals. "Safe" boost according to Dustin @ Outlaw Motorsports is 15 lbs. on the Nytro.

Like the Apex guys some will get away with more but you're beginning to walk where the ice isn't as thick. Anything over 17 lbs. on a stock Nytro or Apex motor is really starting to push the limits. 20+ lbs. on stock rods is Russian Roulette, plain and simple. Especially if you ride where there's good oxygen in the air and are making more power at given boost levels than the guys running 7,000+ feet. The three cylinder also has a longer stroke than the Apex motor which can put more stress on the rods.

Thanks Remmy!! that may be the motovation i needed to stay with my two strokes.

so big boost does require complete build, as i had expected
15 pounds on a heaver four stroke just wont cut it.

I think you should try one out @ 15 lbs before you make that call. I ride with a Turbo M8, (and don't get me wrong it rips and will kill most sleds it goes up against :D) But a setup Apex @ 15 lbs is pretty dominant force. At 18 lbs well.........not much of a contest between the two.

mite have had a bit of miscommunication there over 17lbs rods pistons & head studs no need for valve springs some recommended them most dont there are guys running 400hp on stock valve springs.as far as what boost you need a full built motor good gas & a good tune is everything without deto you dont get huge cylinder pressures with turbo motors like you do with high comp motors so stock stuff last longer .as with all things it a opinion i say if you have the money do the rods studs & pistons to be safe,but if you dont keep it around 17lbs & make sure you run good gas with a head shim & a proper tune then all should be good.but of coarse you could get unlucky like ultralord or me & have probs but mine was on a built motor lose fitting & ultralord had a rod bolt fall out.dosnt matter how much boost you were running then:D:beer;:beer;

I got 3 days on my Ape. It was acting up above 7500 feet so I rode my rev on day 4. The rev was fun but not as fun as my apex!

break it in before you boost it and enjoy!

thanks the little nytro is going out for its maidne voyage today, and will be treated to 10-15 inches of fresh stuff...and the toher Nytro that was brought back with me is have a blower thrown on it today... (Friends sled)

Mine will wait till I get a few miles on it prior to boost asa number of you have suggested...

Am really looking forward to this whole process...will be hand delivering the check to Allen at TImbersled for both front and rear suspension...and will post pics ofthe install of the other boost project...

Both of these sleds will be mild boost, not looking for monster numbers...mainly looking for stock in the engine other than the turbo, and want BULLET proof reliability...so, I dont want head shims or low comp pistons or new fuel rails or different jets etc. etc. and for me the kit to get that met those specs is NW Turboworks or Yamahaturbo.com

they were doing an install for one of the Thunderstruck boys last night...

Why not have Brandon install the turbo. I'm sure he can set you up with a sweet running Nytro (I know his APEX rips).
