Jump ship, lighten my Apex or go Nytro ?

I need your advice, I like many aspects of my Apex Mnt. but it's a big heavy sled and In hard or crusty snow I really feel the weight. This makes for a long day of riding, I end up feeling like the sled is riding me by the end of the day. In the powder it's great...awesome, but half of the riding yearly isn't in deep powder. I would like to either lighten this sled more or go to another lighter more nimble platform. I've done many things to my sled but not the major weight decreasing modifications. I've the oil filter relocation kit, Ulmer air box, CR10 plugs, under tunnel custom Hauck exhaust, Boss seat, relocate battery to under rear seat, gold finger, higher risers, gas shock in rear skid with heavy torsion springs, Timber sled drop brackets, Fox floats in the front, removed rack and bumper replaced with CrRacing bumper. I believe I've removed 30-ish lbs from the sled maybe a little more.
If I keep the sled I would do the tunnel, Timbersled front and rear suspension, this would drop another 65lbs but the sled would still be front heavy and big over all.
If I go with a Nytro it will have Timbersled front and rear suspension, CR tunnel and an under tunnel pipe. This should drop 70 lbs from stock and the design over all would be more nimble I would think? I've not ridden one so I'm not sure how they feel in bad conditions, (hard or crusty snow)
My 2 stroke preference would be an 800 Dragon 155, M8 153 , Summit X 154 and run them stock, maybe add a can and clutching but that's about it. YES I understand the quality isn't as good and they smoke BUT I ride once or twice weekly for 4-5 months and I want to enjoy the sled not fight it or feel like on harder snow days the sled is riding me. I think the only way to get around that is to go to another platform. I'm asking advice because I have no experience on the other sleds but know that if I dump anothr 4000.00 into my sled it's still going to be over 600 lbs ready to ride. If I do the tunnel, pipe & front/rear suspension on the Nytro I could get down to around 550 ready to ride, maybe even less with a few other things done, keeping the Yamaha dependability and 4 stroke benefits. This obviously wouldn't be cheap but in the long run a better investment compared to the 2 smokes. Those of you who have a Nytro and have ridden the mentioned other brands could you give me your comparisons on the weight, feel, etc. I really appreciate everyones input as I live in rural Alaska and don't have dealers around the corner , Thanks!

I have a nytro with an mcx turbo with the cr tunnel and the timbersled front and rear skid. I have ridden the dragon lightweight 700 and the xps and I will never go back to a 2- stroke again. The light weight of the nytro with the boost and the handling of this sled is unreal. Forget about the fact about the turn-key operation and that 1 belt will do for the season. The power of this sled will quickly overwhelm you. I have let experienced riders ride this and they all say right away it is scary. I thought the same until I got used to it:face-icon-small-win All I can say is once you try it you will never go back.....In fact it will leave you wanting more:D

I agree with mcx. I have a nytro with the BD turbo timber rear susp. stretched to 162 full of gas and oil ready to ride is 620 lbs on our digital scale.
I have been riding a s/c apex's for the past two years and I am 5'8" and 165lbs. Your right the apex wears your azz out if the snow is not deep!! I dont think you can get a nytro to 550lbs? with out some serious $$$. You just cant beat the reliability of the four stroke!! I have two freinds with turbos on their ski-doo rt 1000 and they have yet to put a full day in this year! I would recomend to sell the apex and put all your $ in a NYTRO!!

The key word here is "turbo". I currently have an apex with the 310 kit and power to weight ratio is unreal and I can throw it around easier than an 800 Doo! I weigh 170 pounds and so far this is hands down the best sled I have ever rode. I have rode the Nytro though with the turbo and I almost found it a little scary at first because of the power to weight ratio, but having said that I think that it is the sled of the year! Once you get used to riding it, it is an incredible boondocking sled and shoot climbing machine! My next build is definately a turbo nytro.

I had an RX-1 and after riding that, I thought I would never ride a 4-stroke again. The reliablity wasn't worth the pain that sled put me through. Freinds have the 700 Dragon and I loved riding that. It was the most nimble machine I have ever riden. My Yammie dealer had a used Dragon so I went to have a look. He talked me into taking a Nytro for the weekend. It was the best thing I ever did. Very rarley am I sore now after riding, and I feel like i'm controling the sled, not it controling me. I have done things on this sled I have never been able to do before. I can get it unstuck by myself where before it was a two man job minimum,. I strickly MTN ride and there isn't a place I can't go. The sled is stock and will probably stay that way except for an under tunnel exhaust so I can make more storage space, and so I don't melt my jacket again. (Stuipid hot exhaust)

Thanks everyone

I'm glad I posted this question, I figured everyone would just ignore it but Thanks I appreciate your input! I will go boost in a few years, had planned on doing my Apex this year but after being whooped after 6 hours of riding I figured I'd rather go with something smaller and more nimble then sink another eight grand into this sled and still have a big heavy sled. What exactly is the Nytro weighing ready to ride stock? I figured the Timbersled front/rear susp. = -48lbs, under tunnel pipe= -15lbs, CR tunnel= -15 lbs & Y7 battery= -7 lbs for a total weight loss 84 lbs, I'll add a rack and a riser so I figure 75 lbs from stock, the exhaust and tunnel may give me a little more weight loss not sure, but that's the general area. Not a whole lot else to remove from everything I've researched?
