Jones Pass = Kick ***!

Tons of snow up there holy crap, I have never been a fan of Jones pass until today. It was awesome and I'm glad I was able to get out today and rip it up. I met a couple new folks and another rider. Took my pups out for a long hike/walk in the snow. They are pooped. It snowed off and on while up there but no real accumulation. According to one of the mine workers, he said they got 2' of snow sun/mon and another 6" thursday morning.

I'll be headed back Monday, snow is fantastic and deep. Amazed on how everything is buried! Love the tree riding at Jonzi

Cheers

From Denver, go west on 70.
Exit at Empire onto 40.
Just before the first switchback for Berthoud (@ Berthoud Falls), turn left off of 40.
Drive straight and stay to the right.
Park just beyond Henderson Mine.
**Dont try and park before or at the mine.

(At least that's how I get there.)

BCL, wait till they hit an in season avalanche, they won't think that place is fun. I only like going there on a clear day with 3 people or more I trust to dig me out.

I've seen several slides on Jones and this is why I haven't gone there in 2 years but at this juncture of the season and its proximity it is fun to explore now. That place loves to slide...

Yeah... "in season" is all year at Jones! I set one off last week, and a buddy actually set off a decent size one where he pulled his pack last week as well. We dropped a few small slabs off the same layer this weekend as well, but nothing significant.

This time of year, it's a fun place though... still big consequences, but good times!!

Amen! Death on a stick..... had fun last sat though. Probably hit it this weekend again.

Have not been to Jones, whats best route to get to the trail head.

Wait until a big dump, get up early, put your sleds on a deck. Pack as many friends from Denver as you can in a semi. Stop in Dumont, jacknife the semi on the frontage road. get a speeding ticket in empire. Dodge the REI posers. Tear up the hills, deploy the pack.send Facebook pics to bcil.

Please excuse my typos, I'm speeding thru a school zone using tapatalk.

Summer Fling at Jones?????? Only place I have ever ridden in July. Would really like to get another ride in up there this year if I can make it happen. Really love the views up there.

A rider was involved big slide there last week. Be aware, heavy avy territory.

Wish CAIC would keep reporting longer in the spring. Don't know if they need more money or are just burned out by now?

Knew these last few snows weren't sticking good every where, but just operating on hearsay at this point.

BCIL, that was a real blast! And I'm still thankful for you, bparks, and Dereks help! I am really intrigued by all of the possible cliff sidehill lines in my head possible with the PRO RMK. Definitely want to make something happen.

Did anyone submit an observation to CAIC? They have limited manpower and really appreciate information coming in from any and all backcountry users. It's very easy to submit an observation from the mobile app "avalanche forecasts" as well as online at CAIC OBSERVATIONS
