There are some jobs around, depends on what your definition of "good" is. Its not a great time to be finding a job anywhere in the country. But any able bodied person with half a brain should be able to get some kind of work.

Well my sister got canned from her job. She's in marketing and can't seem to find a job. Most likely because she made a sh!t load of money in the past.

My company (consulting and sales) is hiring and firing on a weekly basis. That is fairly common in sales. I get a lot of resume's from people who have had base salaries of $50k in the past willing to work for me at $30-$35k.

My guess is it will depend on your on your skill set. One of my clients is activily hiring highly certified network security engineers but can't seem to find any locally and have had to hire out of state (UT).

Not a stockload of "good" jobs around. Things are starting to open up a little but the purse strings are really tight. I had an interview this weekend in Durango and the offer I received wasn't enough to be able to pack up the family and move. Spoke with a guy yesterday looking for experienced peeps in construction. Starting them out at 12/hr:mad:

I have been in Land Surveying, construction and land development for the last 11 years and I have been able to find nothing open Statewide. I wish you the best of luck, Colorado is a beautiful state to live in but it is also very tough too.

With a 20 year background in welding, check with oil rig companies.
They are starting to put rigs back out and they are always looking for welders.

As long as you are a certified welder this is a good oportunity with all of the rigs coming back online here in CO, and WY in the coming weeks...Another thing to look at when lookin for jobs in CO is the surounding communities, I dont know if you have kids or not but may also narrow your search down with in Colorado as far as school and the actual communites go....

There was a ton of work in the Rifle area. Lots of drilling (welding and construction), but I'm not sure if that has fallen off. That's not far from the flat tops which is one of the best places I know to snowmobile.

good suggestions,

another option depending on your circumstances are the coal mines in WY. If you don't mind working away from home during the week you could live in CO and work the mines during the week.

Although take it from me the road warrior thing gets old in a hurry

I was working for a company in that area and got laid off. I call them every week and they say that nothing is coming back on fast enough for them to pick up the crews again. I'm actually looking at jobs that got me through college but being the supervisor instead of the actual guy that does the work.

There seem to be a lot of handyman and building/property maintenance spots opening up. Not glamorous by any means but the pay is halfway decent and you get a ski pass which I could either sell or trade in for cash.

Cost of living can vary greatly around the state. Places that are know for sledding are usually also known for skiing. This equates to high costs of living.

The places that are affordable to live often offer nothing in the way of jobs and are further from the resorts, the latter being a good thing. A lot of places are great to play at horrible to try and live.

There’s a lot of options out there, if you have a family, the search can be narrowed even further.

As far as jobs, well I think were no better or worse then anywhere else right now. The western slope seems to have less opportunities then the front range.

Good luck

I lived in ND for 4 years. I suggest you look into cost of living comparisons. It is a great place to live but very hard to stomach the cost of living. Especially moving from be. But if you can do it you will love it
