Job Opportunity

Scientific Research Intern
Intern is responsible for researching scientific issues related to the effects snowmobiles have on the natural environment and a quality human-powered recreation experience. Specifics include writing abstracts on studies that address snowmobile impacts on wildlife, air, and snow, plus problems associated with noise emissions. Intern will also write fact sheets (briefings) on these studies, and prepare materials for distribution via the organization's Web site. Qualified candidate has experience in research and excellent writing skills.

I'm sure they will come up with some very unbiased conclusions. Same “scientific” methods are being used to prove climate change and global warming. I think its hilarious they want a research intern but in the job description are laying out the desired results. If you hate summer, you should hate these a-holes even more, forever is longer than summer.

SAWS should save the job requirements so they can show the prejudice when the job description uses the term "find the problems associated with snowmobiles"

Its just flat out amazing the world we live in now when stuff like this job posting are posted. They will state their results are unbiased in the end...but how can they be after a job discription like that...

Check this out...true story?
A woman from
> Los Angeles , who was a tree
> hugger and an anti-hunter, purchased a piece of timberland,
> near Grants Pass ,
> OR .. There was a large
> tree on one of the highest points in the tract. She wanted a
> good view of the natural splendor of her land so she started
> to climb the big tree. As she neared the top she encountered
> a spotted owl that attacked her. In her haste to escape, the
> woman slid down the tree to the ground and got many
> splinters in her crotch.
>
> In considerable pain, she hurried to the nearest doctor.
> She told him she was an environmentalist and an anti-hunter
> and how she came to get all the splinters. The doctor
> listened to her story with great patience and then told her
> to go into the examining room and he would see if he could
> help her. She sat and waited three hours before the doctor
> reappeared. The angry woman demanded, 'What took you so
> long?'
>
> He smiled and then told her, 'Well, I had to get
> permits from the Environmental Protection Agency, the Forest
> Service, and the Bureau of Land Management before I could
> remove old-growth timber from a recreational area. I'm
> sorry, but they turned me
> down.'

You should read up on winterwildlands. They have many full time paid employees (11 last time I counted). And, tons of volunteers. Their connected at the hip, with the sierra club. You can actually get college credit for internships with them. They take in a butt load of federal grant money, to teach kids how to "properly" enjoy the national forest, and put up solar powered lights for cross country skiers. Not to mention actively close our riding areas. Every year they hold a "how to influence the media" class. And, they have lots of members.

Non of the pro-motorized groups, besides BRC, can collect enough money to have a full time employee. Long term, we are screwed, unless we turn public opinion around.
