Jetting for a 2000 MM700 -3000' -7000'?

I have attempted to jet my 2000 Mountain Max 700 using the factory jetting chart. It's a pain to change 3 jets and adjust 3 needles in the first place and after 3 attempts (using the factory settings) and still sputtering and burning 20 percent more fuel than my other 3 sleds (2 are 800 Ski-doos) I am petitioning anyone on the forum who can help me make the "Final" adjustment. As long as I am asking: anyone know how to adjust the track alignment/tension on the same sled?

I'm probably not the guy to answer your question but, I will do my best.

I just picked up a used 97 mountain max on Friday. It's stock as a rock and says on the inside of the hood #1 138.8 #2 137.5 #3 137.5 It has the pilot and needle postions on there too but I just don't remember what it said. I will be riding 3-7,000 feet as well so I hope this is close.

To adjust the track, losen the large nut on the left side of the rear axle. This will allow the rear axle to move fore and aft. Then put a 14mm deep socket on an extension and come in through a track window from the back of the sled and adjust the nuts. I hope this is correct because I have been adjusting the skid on my RX-1M with a M7 skid under it.

Good luck

Interested in your fuel consumption w/stock jetting.

I am jetted 135.0, 132.5, 132.5 with the needle clip at the top and the airscrew set at 2 1/4 and it still seems a little rich coming off idle. After a 40 mile ride I will have used 6.5 gallons and thats easy trail riding -not WOT. My two ski-doo 800s will have used 4.8 and 5.8 gallons on the same ride. Interested in your fuel consumption. I've always been told the 3 cylinder Yamahas are good on fuel. Maybe my I have been misled. Anyone have any further information?

i run #55 pilot jets and 137.5 mains straight across the board and i can ride all day on one tank 45 liters about 10 liters on 50 kilometer trail at 110 kph

Thats what I ran with the 141" track & Benders, 85-90 miles on a tank of fuel was pushing it but I made it. These were trail rides with the family on mostly groomed trails.

try the needles in the #2 spot. run the 55 pilots, your mains sound right, and you should be good to go. if the fuel screws are at 2 1/4, you probably have the wrong pilots anyway, as that is about as far as you can turn them before they fall out. try it again, map all components, and keep an eye on the plug color and piston wash if you can. sounds like pilot circuit is your issue.
