jetting and clutching help 900

Hey there I have a 03 1m 900 it was all stock and I just rebuilt the mote with ported lower and cylinders cut heads v force 3 and speedwerx single pipe and y pipe. It's a 144 2" track I live in Maine so I will be riding in lol 1000ft to 5000 maybe thanks for the info

900

you need to check on here for all the 900 threads on jetting, if this sled is stock and stock jetting, you need to find some450 to 500 main jets, learn to read piston wash and make sure you have 10mm mininum around the edges of your pistons, figure out how to adjust the gas screw, check which needles are in your carbs and go richer and ease into the jetting or it won;t run long enough to figure out the clutching.

Just a guess, but I would think you will need to go up at least 2 to 3 jet sizes, put zr needles in, and raise them 1 extra notch. (drop the clip down) Probably you will need to run primium since you cut the heads. Go a little big to start and read the plugs and wash. You may need to change your pilot jet too. Basically set it up like a zr and then add one or two jet sizes. Thats a lot of changes at one time.

I would start maybe at 460. That would be 10 below at sea level jetting on a stock engine. Pipe adds two sizes and depends on what porting was done if any additional fuel is required. The 03'3 were very prone to mid range burn down, not because they were lean but because the timing was very advanced but adding fuel did help. Never run long at mid throttle. You can't jet for a 4000' elevation change so you will need to be rich up high to be safe down low.

There 430 in there now from when I got and it was all stock i am going to try to get it going this weekend and take it on a test ride to see how 469 works and the needles

I would raise your needles or lower the clips, adding fuel in the mid range as stated before they are VERY LEAN in the midrange. Or you can get a fatter needle if LEAN still.
