Started at:
500 mains
needle in middle position
up 2 on pilots (not sure on numbers)
Fuel screw out 2 turns

Ported motor
SLP Y pipe
HPS can
Trygstad head

Ride 6000-9000ft

Started safe but it needs some attention.

So what is everybody else running?

Who did the porting? Typically porting doesn't change jetting requirements, but your head might.

the purpose of porting is to increase air/fuel flow thru the engine, and it will definitely need more fuel (bigger jets) depending on how radical the port timing is.....high compression heads on the other hand rarely call for more fuel, but rather higher octane so as to preclude detonation....after market exhaust systems, y-pipe, pipes and cans, again depending on how good they are, have the purpose of increasing air flow, and again the need for bigger jets.....my 08 xp has after market single pipe, can and slightly higher compression, i use 500 mains and shimmed the needle slightly, jetting is perfect for my concept of how it ought to be, plugs the color of light milk choclate, i could go a little leaner, but i'm riding not racing

Tom Dines in Sierra City did the porting. Went up 3 jet sizes on main (470 to 500 per instructions) w/ the head.

Plugs are black after WOT then kill switch @ 7500 ft and cold temps (for California).
