Jackets for the Boondockers out there....

Looked at a bunch of different companies and it came down to Klim or Motorfist. Both of these companies have awesome warranties and excellent product reviews. I have a brother, brother in law and several friends with Motorfist and they all have had good luck and like them. I wanted to be different, so I went with Klim.

I have the Valdez jacket, Togwotee bibs and Free ride pants, all new with zero miles so this year will be the test.

I have the valdez and have loved riding in it, I found mine at the end of the year on e bay for 220.I have also tried out cheaper gear usally snowboarding gear and it has never lasted me more than a season of riding, since I have switched to KLIM i have yet to wear a pair of my gear out in 4 years, if you look and be patience you will find good deals.Good luck

I have a klim valdez.... and it stays in the closet. I have had great luck with Columbia coats... a better fit, keeps me dry, and feels alot softer. I admit that they don't look like they would hold up... but they really do (unless you bump the hot pipe while working on a sled.... )

The way I look at it- all of my Columbia has lasted me at least 5 years.... and after that long i'm usually wanting something else anyway. But you really cant go wrong with klim.... i just don't like that everyone and their dog has it.... and the looks. But it does last!

I want to support companies that benefit the snowmobilng cause, and Columbia is not our friend. Klim is slowly starting to mix the colors up a bit more, HMK definitely has a head start there.

I've got the 2nd to top Klim, and my wife has the top HMK... (I've got klim top & HMK bottom, she's the opposite)both are great, and I love my klim jacket, but her HMK jacket is the most beefy jacket I've run across, while still being dry every day.

My Klim is dry as a bone, but got ripped pretty quickly. Still very happy with it, very nice jacket. We like the klim pants notably more than the HMK though... the hmk ones grab snow & snowball up at the bottom where the klims don't at all really.

EVERYONE wears Klim because it WORKS, they have plenty of options in weight and storage options. HMK is great also but have only limited time in that gear. What are the guys that put on thousand or more miles a year wearing? That's what will work/last for you.
Snowboard gear did not hold up as long (2 seasons) and costs almost as much so why bother, IMO.
