Black hurricanes....

Well, it appears our African-American friends have found yet something else to be pissed about. A black congresswoman (this would be Sheila Jackson Lee, of Houston ), reportedly complained that the names of hurricanes are all Caucasian sounding names.
She would prefer some names that reflect African-American culture such as Chamiqua, Tanisha, Woeisha, Shaqueal, and Jamal. I am NOT making this up!
She would also like the weather reports to be broadcast in 'language' that street people can understand because one of the problems that happened in New Orleans was, that black people couldn't understand the seriousness of the situation, due to the racially biased language of the weather report.
I guess if the weather person says that the winds are going to blow at 140+ MPH, thats too hard to understand

OO I can't remember what part of Florida you're at, but I just went through Miami-Dade Airport. Holy crap what a rude bunch of all spanish speaking group of people. Sorry to say but if you have to park a cat 4 somewhere that would be my pick. Ebonics isn't going to help there. Seriously I hope you have a safe uneventful storm season. Some of our elected folks really need to read some of the crap they want to say and turn on the common sense filter first.

im on the west coast. just south of tampa.. but, i know what you mean. nothing but cubans and mexicans over there.. i went to my local fireworks for the 4th.. i swear to god, i should have gone to mexico, there would have been more americans there..

Good to know I'm not the only one on Snowest down here...I'm in Lakeland working for the summer, but at least I get to go back up to the snow and cold and english speaking gas station employees in another month or so.
