It ran good and then....

08 Dragon 800 RMK

I just had the motor update, and then I added the SLP single, the SLP head set, clutching, vents, etc, and this is my first real ride of the year.

I had the sled out for about 20 minutes and punched it a couple time, it ran real good and I was happy. Then the Check Engine light started flashing, and flashes continusouly. Robs me of all my power.

I can shut off the sled, and it won't start back up until I make a hard pull on it. I tried the ethanol wires plugged in and unplugged, but no change.

I am running the BLUE Polaris oil through the motor and it's pre-mixed, but it shoulds like I have a sensor that went south. Any suggestions from anyone so maybe I can a little more riding in this weekend?

Thanks guys!

What elevation? What octane of fuel are your running?

I would have personally waited a little bit after your update to make the changes, hard to say what it could be when you make that many and that drastic of a change.

Try putting the stock head and stock pipe back on.

If nothing, I would call the dealer that did the update.

very similar thing happened to me, new pipe and then the EGT sensor failed, twice. It will blink at you five times, and they cost about $150.00. Simple to replace though. I went back to the stock pipe for now.

:beer;

I am only running at about 1000ft elevation. I played around with the EGT sensor a little, and it ran good for awhile. I rode it for about 30 minutes, shut it down, and almost immediately when I restarted it the light came back on.

You can really hear the Deto system doing its thing right before this happens, and sometimes when you restart the sled it will run good for awhile. I am using 91 octane gas and it wasn't labeled if it was ethanol, oxygenated, or anything.

Thanks guys! $150 for a friggin EGT sensor is ridiculous, but it probably wouldn't be a bad thing to have in the trailer!

If you didn't use a torque wrench on your Detonation sensor I'd bet its been overtightened and is cracked. Try loosening the sensor and re-torquing it. If you have a flashing light and the motor is not revving out you have detonation or a detonation sensor problem. They are very sensitive to torque, as in more or less will change the frequency required to send a deto signal. If you overtorque it you will crack the ceramic element and its basically useless.

They're definately the low elevation domes. SLP said that the low elevation domes would run great below 3000ft, and above that they would be a nice gain over stock, and not require additional octane at all in either elevation.

They are more similar to the original Polaris head.

I think I'm argreeing with ElectroTech. I didn't torque the EGT sensor with a torque wrench, so it may have become damaged. I'll have to wait until Monday when I can bring it to the old stealer dealer.

take the sled back to the dealer...they have a new flash that was released last week due to the deto being overly sensitive..it should take care of it..they can also check the egt sensor as well...

I had this sled reflashed at the dealer last week and ran it over the weekend. It ran great all weekend! It sounds better, pulls harder, and runs more consistenly across the board with the SLP pipe, heads, and fresh tune/top end.

The dealer reset my TPS and performed the latest reflash. I actually like this sled again!

this may have been mentioned above but i didnt feel like reading everything... if you issue still hasnt been resolved, make sure the in line resistor to your egt sensor that came with the slp pipe kit has been removed... with the resistor in line the engine will go into limp mode which is what makes the check engine light flash continuously and will not go away until you shut off your sled and then restart it. we have seen this issue multiple times this year. hope it helps.
